Blue Bar Ratings and Reviews
We were over from the UK and were meeting friends who lived in Skerries and they suggested Blue Bar - what a place! the staff were so friendly and the food was great - fab atmosphere and we had such a great time - the wings are to die for and the cocktails -(it would have been rude not to have tried them) were perfect - frozen margarita for me ! I could have stayed there all night - so I now look forward to my next trip back and Blue Bar will be the first place I visit- you will not be disappointed.
Visited Blue Bar for the Wings and skinny fries several times. They're great with the rest of the menu being fairly average. The problem here is they are too busy and what I mean by that is, an arrogance comes from the management and staff on every occasion I've been.
You book ahead, no problem and this your best way to get in most weekends anyway.
However, servers are not particularly friendly and clearly not trained on even the most basic of restaurant etiquette. Our last visit, Sunday 5th Nov. : almost impossible to get any server's attention once they'd brought the food and drinks to the table. Five different servers to bring food and drinks to three customers at the same table tells its own story... Asked how everything was not 30 seconds after the food was presented after which point we couldn't get this server's attention again. Asked for water, got enough for 2 not three yet 3 glasses... The classic taking empty plates from those that had finished but utterly negating the fact one of the party was still eating, this is infuriating and consolidated the lack of training given. This is THE faux pas of the restaurant business in my view. To top it off the shiny credit card machine doesn't take Apple Pay, no this isn't a big deal but given the lack of understanding of ApplePay in the Irish retail market and the fact it is free to the customer at any payment amount, disappointing but not surprising here.
Bottom line here is, Blue Bar is hype and based on the Wings essentially. It's a lovely feeling bar but don't put your head on the line with a big group booking because on my many experiences, they can't even manage 2 people let alone a group.
This restaurant is a gem! Brought my 86 year old grandmother here for lunch, they made sure the seating was good for her, the staff all spoke to her and she has an amazing afternoon. We all loved the chicken wings, the fish was to die for and the biggest and freshest chicken burger I have ever seen! Try the trio of desserts, it's amazing :)
Went here with my family to celebrate a birthday from entering the door to leaving the service was excellent the waitress was very friendly and helpful and the food well there are no words it's was exceptional taste quantity and presentation were all excellent the ambience of the restaurant is beautiful very comfortable and warm
Food lovely, service good, ambience brilliant. Very surprised with €7.70 for a glass of wine. And price of wings going to €10 is very steep. Price of food will determine whether customers continually provide repeat business. I Remember when they were €6.45 a portion. Will return however.
Well once again we had an excellent night at the Blu Bar, our go to place when we visit Skerries from Belfast. The food is excellent , but the staff are outstanding which makes to whole experience so special and makes us return time and time again. Well done and keep doing what you do......your staff are your biggest asset.
As a frequent visitor to blue myself and husband and son love it. Can't beat the chicken wings. I love the prawns and my son loves the mash and gravy and the chicken goujons for kids are proper chicken chunks. Service is second to none. Very fast and atentive every time.
All time favourite restaurant. Food is ALWAYS amazing without a doubt. My partner and I love to go to the Blue bar for a treat every now and then or to celebrate special occasions. It was his birthday when we visited on the 8th of October and I requested a booth for some privacy which was lovely. Great staff, great food and just a great place.
It was my boyfriends birthday and when we got our dessert they sang him happy birthday. It was a night i'll never forget.
Thank you so much
The service was amazing and the staff were so kind.
We are a young couple (16,17) and they treated us so professional and like we were adults and most places would be hesitate about us being so young in a restaurant.
The food was nice but I felt 2 of the main course were small for what you got, we ordered the chicken supreme and there wasn’t much of anything on the plate, my child got a bigger portion of food! It was tasty but I would suggest ordering sides, my partner had the chicken wings they were fab, I would say it’s a good place for wings and burgers
Booked a table for 8:45 and wasn't seated until 9:15 whilst left standing in reception area, walk ins were served before us and eating before we were even seated, waiter Jamie was lovely and extremely friendly and quick, but reception staff were very inefficient, menu is very narrow minded and only suits a select crowd, wings were cold and tasted like vinegar, no wipes or hot water to clean your hands either, overall atmosphere was lovely but won't be back.
We discovered Blue Bar in January and have been here many times since, bringing friends and relatives who have been visiting from overseas. Always loved it here. Unfortunately, this time we were left disappointed with the food, we ordered medium rare fillet steaks mine was over done and my partners very Underdone! The peppercorn sauce was raw tasting and left a bad taste for several hours. My pavlova was underdone and there was some sort of toffee sauce squirted on all the plates of dessert that we ordered! If the chef has changed can he please practice more! I love this place please bring back the old chef.
