D.O.P. is a journey that started with a large family who immigrated from a small village in the heart of Italy in 1979. With them they brought the memories, traditions, and recipes of the old country. For over 14 years my parents operated an Italian restaurant in Ontario. This journey continued when I moved to Calgary, inspired by my father, I continued working in the restaurant industry. His legacy and my exposure to the diverse food culture in the city helped shape the concept of D.O.P.
Being a second generation Canadian, I want to honour both my Italian roots and Canadian upbringing, by sharing our families’ recipes and adapting them to our Canadian landscape.
We are privileged to share with you the time-old traditions and memories of a family whose passion for Italian cooking created a legacy.
So come on in, leave your shoes on and let’s make more.

The Japanese film Tampopo was marketed as the world’s first “ramen western”. It’s the story of two truck drivers, Goro & Gun, who use their culinary expertise to change the fate of a struggling noodle shop. Those two characters' passion for noodle-making lives on at Calgary’s 150-seat noodle bar — led by executive chefs Ryusuke Araki & Tomo Mitsuno. Located on Stephen Avenue, upstairs on the Plus 15 level, the restaurant melds modern art graphics with distinctive hardwood and right angles of Japanese decor. Tuck into a steaming bowl of ramen with our house-made noodles, made even better with an aji-tama egg. Or depart from noodle fare with house specialities like tuna poke or pork steam buns.     Hy’s was recommended to us by a friend- and they were fantastic! Dino was our server and literally created a wonderful evening for old friends! Food is amazing! And the sommelier nailed it with the wine… somehow we made our way through 4 bottles! What an evening! Dave

    I don’t give 5 stars like ever but if there were 6 I would gladly do so. Above the food, and atmosphere was absolutely amazing the server how fast, friendly and efficient she was honestly amazed me. Definitely one my new fav restaurants in Calgary.

    It was honestly wonderful like words can’t explain I don’t know where to begin food was complete perfection service was amazing prices were very affordable our waitress kept checking up on us we ordered the Steak Frites and it was amazing the steak was cooked to perfection it’s my number 1 place to go to everytime we go on a date
