Catalyst Restaurant is the culmination of Chef/Owner William Kovel’s culinary experiences in award-winning restaurants including Jardinière, Orerry and Aujourd'hui at Four Seasons Boston Hotel. The Catalyst dining experience centers on bright, simple food created from the season’s freshest local ingredients, serious French technique and an appreciation for the details that go into our guest's experience.

Catalyst Restaurant opened in 2011 as one of the pioneer businesses in Technology Square near Kendall Square and the MIT Campus in Cambridge, MA. Since that time, an influx of start-ups and big companies that have made Catalyst a hub for business lunches, after-work gatherings and private dining. In addition to restaurant seating, Catalyst offers a full menu at the bar, along with a specialty bar menu.

    Catalyst is one of our go-to restaurants close to MIT. The food is consistently good, the place is not too noisy, allowing conversation, and the service is outstanding. My only wish is for a little menu expansion, perhaps with seasonal additions. This is especially true because we do go there often.

    I work at MIT, and went for lunch with an academic guest earlier this week. Their food had pieces of HARD BLACK PLASTIC on it — they almost choked, and may have even swallowed some parts. Absolutely unacceptable. The response of the manager was totally underwhelming — seemed business as usual to her. A total embarrassment.

    Was incredibly surprised by how delicious the food was particularly the burger. It was one of the most delicious burgers I’ve had in Boston for the simplicity and smoky flavour that the chef has curated. Thank you for being our break fast after Yom Kippur :) It was also helpful that we had Ari as our server who was so youthful and full of life!

    This is our favorite place to dine out. Great service, attentive staff, super food. Reasonably priced for wonderfull food and service. Great wine selection. You never feel rushed.

    We were there for lunch and food was delicious. The fish was cooked just the right amount of tenderness. The burger was outstanding and the fish tacos were so good they were devoured in no time. The only thing I didn't like was the Smoke Show Fizz drink. It was a bit disappointing, tasting more like straight up juice out of the can without the charred pineapple, basil, lime, sprite. Service was impeccable with good attention to detail. Overall, very good and maintaining standards.

    Wonderful experience. Our reservation was for 5:45 ( we're older and dine earlier). The noise was quiet when we starter and rose to moderate about an hour later when the place filled up. Generous delicious portions at a reasonable price and great cocktails.
