FIG & OLIVE Chicago
FIG & OLIVE Chicago
(3390)
Mediterranean | Gold Coast / Streeterville, Chicago

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant as I had just read some negative reviews on another website. The restaurant on the third floor was upscale, trendy decor, busy but not overly loud. The menu was exciting, so many choices, making it hard to decide, and the food was spectacular, exceptional. Had an excellent, friendly, knowledgeable waiter; service was leisurely but not overly slow. Enjoyed the whole experience and would certainly return should I visit Chicago again. The prices were a little high, but I soon discovered that was the norm for Chicago restaurants of that caliber. I wish there were such a wonderful place closer to home. More

It was my boyfriends birthday so we went to Formentos to celebrate. Everything was great. What put it over the edge was when the waiter heard me say that it was his birthday, in addition to the chocolate cake that we ordered, he came out with ice cream and a candle in it. The simple, extra step really topped our experience. More

We (3 long time girlfriends) were there celebrating all of our birthdays and the manger Charles made sure it was special! Our reservation was during the last 15 minutes of happy hour and we were able to take advantage of it! I would have paid the regular price it was so good!! The drinks, I had the “that’s my jam” was outstanding and refreshing! We had all four happy hour appetizers and one was better than the next! Still thinking of the duck fat fries - they are a must! The entrees were delicious and we shared them all!! It was like having a tasting menu of wonderful food!! Cacio e Pepe was fantastic, as was the Amish chicken and the fennel-garlic sausage! I can’t say enough about Charles making sure everything was perfect for us!!!! Can’t wait to go back!!! More

This was our first visit to Osteria Langhe but it will not be our last. We stumbled upon the Tuesday night special - a 3-course menu card for under $40. Our party sampled a range of dishes from steak, to pasta, to all-vegetarian options - everything was delicious, although the pasta is really the standout here. More

Fabulous restaurant. Service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and offered helpful suggestions regarding the menu. They were very knowledgeable and made sure that all of our questions were answered. As this was a first time experience re: Caviar tasting, we walked away having learned quite a bit about the process, the grading and how to eat. We also ordered other items on the menu and each was a melange of flavors unto its own. All of which was wonderful. A definite return visit is warranted. More

George Trois
1. George Trois
(58)
French | Winnetka, North Suburbs

We've dined at Michael's many times, but this experience at George Trois was so high level as to be one of the best meals we've had in years. The courses were complex in taste and appearance with layers of taste that were intense and true to the ingredients, but were approachable & didn't need instructions on how to eat them. The wine flight was a perfect compliment to the courses. The staff as always were perfectly helpful and friendly. Its always a pleasure to see them. More

Chime and Stave
Chime and Stave
Contemporary American | St. Charles, West Suburbs

Chime & Stave Kitchen and Bar is a neighborhood craft cocktail and dining destination. Enjoy American inspired, artisan meals made with farm-to-table ingredients while sipping craft beer and cocktails in a rustic, easy to relax atmosphere suitable for every occasion. Our whiskey bar is inspired by the art of cooperage and the fine whiskeys that come from the barrels that Master Cooper’s produce. So, what is a chime and a stave?

A chime is the beveled edge at the top, and bottom, of a barrel. It is made up of the ends of all the staves coming together. The staves are the heart of the barrel. Created from oak that must be straight, knot-free, and properly aged, they are shaped and fitted together in a precise pattern that will render the finished barrel watertight.
