It was an extraordinary experience executed perfectly by the staff: warm, elegant, and unpretentious. They shared with us the wonder of the experience with warm hospitality. While it is pricey, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience that’s available almost nowhere else! I’d love to go back.

We had a wonderful tea master named Thomas. He really loved his job and was so passionate about making sure we had a great experience. The food and ambiance was amazing. We loved the tea and got a Champaign flight. Lots of food and yummy desserts. It was such a great day!

Having been here previously, I said that this was the best place that we had ever had cream tea in the world. To be honest, this time was not as good and I was slightly disappointed. It still rates very highly but when we arrived this time, we were directed to the car park but it wasn't the normal friendly approach. The doormen at the front were engaged in conversation - more than likely business, but that doesn't mean that you don't stop for a moment to greet the clientele. I had to wait and catch their attention and even then that was a struggle for them. Once inside it was much more welcoming. When we got to the room for the cream tea, we asked for some water. The gentleman serving wasn't very engaging and was just 'doing his job'. He came out with a jug of lukewarm water and gave us a small drop each. Later on, I noticed that ALL the other guests had a bottle of water on their table. I'm not sure why we weren't offered. Then we were served by two very attentive and friendly ladies who definitely lifted our spirits after the dodgy start. Visiting was bittersweet as we had come in honour of my mother who was too sick to visit for our original planned visit in July so we wanted to carry this visit out. Ashford Castle is without doubt the best but it has dropped the ball slightly and I feel that the charm of the area needs to be matched by their service. I would only recommend this place at the moment if it gets back to the level of attentiveness it once had.

The afternoon tea in Ashford Castle was a fabulous experience, the setting was fabulous, the food and the service was excellent. Our hostess Laura was very attentive and sensitive to guests needs. We enjoyed a walk on the grounds afterwards.

Had a lovely experience at Ashford, we arrived early so made the most of wandering around the castle and the amazing gardens at the back. It was a beautiful day which made it even nicer. The afternoon tea was fabulous, food was so nice and the service was fantastic very friendly staff. We couldn't finish what we had so they gave us a beautiful box to take home what was left over. My kids really enjoyed the sweet treats that I brought home.

The Connaught Room with a table for two overlooking the gardens and down to the ocean was a wonderful experience. Coupled with excellent service from a waiter (Thomas) who made us feel special made for a very memorable wedding anniversary.

Tea at The Connaught Room was one of the highlights of our Irish vacation. The service was outstanding as well as all of the teas we got to try. The confections were divine, and the setting was like no other…in a castle! It was definitely the best tea experience we’ve ever had.

Our experience of our visit to Ashford Castle was outstanding. From our warm welcome to your clear directions. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The afternoon tea was excellent, a wonderful choice, with excellent presentation. The staff were attentive whilst being discreet. We will definitely return and will have no hesitation in recommending a visit to the Castle.

Went for Afternoon Tea at this impressive castle hotel. Set on the lake with the mountains as a dramatic back drop, the setting, alone is worth the visit. However, we were there for our ‘Tea!’ and it was completely first class. Even the gluten free option (which can sometimes be lacklustre) was delicious. Attentive service without being intrusive. Absolutely spectacular and would highly recommend.

I brought a friend to Ashford for afternoon tea for her birthday. Everything exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing, ghee service impeccable. I love the ambience of the Connaught Room - everything is perfect from the embroidered tablecloths to the china and the take home boxes. The staff is professional, friendly and discreet. Highly recommend.

The castle snd the grounds were spectacular. We enjoyed a lovely tea experience. I ordered a vegan tea due to an egg allergy and was very pleasantly surprised at the exceptional selection and taste of each beautiful sandwich, scone and treat. I would highly recommend this special tea!

Beautiful surroundings of the location and breathtaking surroundings. Service amazing - friendly and good full of flavours. Bread for sandwiches was slightly hard on the edges - perhaps as we had our tea at 4pm which may have been a little late.

An outstanding experience - harping back to the golden days of Royalty. The Gatekeeper recognized our name immediately, the other persons directing us into the grounds and building were fabulously courteous, welcoming and charming, as were the inside reception and dining room personnel. A once in a lifetime experience!

Lovely place. Lovely greeting and entrance into the castle, then room for afternoon tea. The lady serving us couldn’t do more. Was all absolutely excellent. The only reason to drop a star was for when we left, we were invited to fill a jar with loose tea, which we did until a man turned up and was very rude and spoke to us as if we should not have been there. He then went and got our coats as if we should not be there. To be fair we laughed about it later but it was rather rude after we had just spent €260 on afternoon tea! The main lady who served us though was lovely and made the experience. That man clearly needs some training in customer service!
