   Birthday breakfast for my mom and we were super impressed with the wonderful service. Our waiter Steven was so patient and had such a great attitude! The food was good and the portions were generous. We would definitely go back!

   The ambience is unique and lovely. I enjoyed being there immensely even though the food was not as good as expected. Next time, I will order the featured special rather than breakfast at 7pm.

   The food arrived to the table cold and none of the meats were cooked as requested EX: Asked for meat med rare and there was zero pink. This is the 3rd experience we’ve noticed a decline in the food. Sad because we love the place but at this price point I think we are likely throwing in the towel on future visits.

    We’ve been going here for many many years now & it never disappoints! Even tho I booked Mother’s Day breakfast since maybe February or March we still had to wait awhile because this place is moms day heaven! But once we were seated we got coffee & ordered up. She was really polite & I forgot her name! Maybe Shelly or Cheryl. We had family who had never been here & they really enjoyed the food & outstanding service!

    Such an iconic spot with great food! If you’re there for breakfast, definitely try the Belgian waffle 🧇 If you feel like something savory instead, check out the Benedict. They serve it traditional style, with a generous serving of ham, with hash browns and fruit. SO good!

    Place was very busy, and it took a while to get our food and drinks. Our server was nice, but forgot basic things like place settings. Only two cake flavors to choose from for dessert, disappointing but was delicious.

    Beautiful space in the Madonna Inn. Lovely Tiffany lamps and carved wood moldings. Tables are copper. Generous portions. I had the tri tip sandwich and my friend had the steak salad. We both took home half. Ave room for dessert. Black Forest cake was amazing. We split that. Service was wonderful. After and coffee refilled without asking. Great place fir a special time.

    Was there to celebrate my Wife’s birthday with our 3 kids on the 5th and we normally eat in the steakhouse, unfortunately they don’t let you order from the copper cafe menu for the kids so we opted to eat at the cafe. Unfortunately it seems like they don’t take care of you like the normally do in the steakhouse. We ordered 2 fillets medium, a steak salad, chicken strips, and a hot dog. The steaks arrived medium rare, not bad but not what we asked, the hotdog bun was burned and we asked for a slice of the raspberry delight cake to go, only to get home and it was the wrong cake. So normally we’ve never had a bad experience. This is the first time so I hope this isn’t a sign of where it’s heading.

    Tri tip was perfectly done. The ten inch Black Forest cake with cherries was gorgeous. Our server, Steven was very attentive to my sister’s 70th birthday celebration.

    The dining experience at the Madonna Inn was exactly in line with the era of the resort The food was delicious, very friendly hostess and waitress that gave us great travel tips as well. The menu was a traditional one, which was what we loved most, and needed given our long travel from Ohio the evening before. So fun to see all the beautiful pink and chocolate cakes displayed Don't ever change a thing!

    We are very sorry we booked a birthday celebration brunch there. The place was packed and very loud at 10am. We were seated on time but it took over 30 minutes to place our order and another 40 to get our food. And sadly, the food was very disappointing. The homemade biscuits were cold and hard, the french toasts basic egg-battered slim slice of white bread with no flavor, and the home made corned beef hash not appetizing or tasty. Embarrassingly for us the hosts, 1/2 of our guests did not eat because they just did not like the food they were served. The place is a staple in SLO and always busy, so the disappointment was even bigger. Maybe we picked a bad day or we were the sacrificed table in the mad brunch rush, either way, we will not be going back.

    Another amazing anniversary trip! As always the copper cafe is a joy and pleasure to visit. We had both dinner and breakfast here and both menus offer tons of selections to choose from. Can’t wait for our next trip!

    I didn’t get my roll:( I love the Madonna inn and I think about it everyday. Unfortunately there were no rooms so I had to settle for just dinner. Our server needs some work. He seemed new and bored

    Since we live in San Luis Obispo, we've had meals at Madonna Inn's Copper Cafe several times. The food is very good, and the servers are very professional and friendly. My husband loves their hot turkey open face sandwich which has mashed potatoes and a salad. I enjoy their breakfasts. Their biscuits are delish! I recently had their chili which was good and quite filling.

    Our server, Forest, was exceptional! He went above and beyond. My cousin was visiting San Luis Obispo for the very first time as she looks around for what colleges she’d like to apply to. It was a very special trip to the both of us, so I was excited to show her Madonna Inn Cafe. Forest was incredibly kind, excellent at communicating, and delivered awesome customer service for our weekday brunch!

    Only ok to eat at if you have someone that’s never been there from out of town, just to see the place. We took my mother in law for the first time for Easter, and it was horrible. Food was cold, tasteless and the steak (supposedly their specialty) was way over cooked. I couldn’t even cut it. It was like beef jerky. I wasted my gift card for a gross meal instead of booking a spa appt! Of course the cake was amazing though.

    Breakfast here was excellent - the hash browns were fluffy, the bacon was crisp, and the toast buttered perfectly. The choice of jams was fantastic, so much better than opening a little packet to get the standard restaurant offering. Because this was Easter, they had plenty of staff available which was nice.

    It was a very busy morning. I was glad I had reservations and got seated fairly quickly. The server was nice but obviously had many tables and once the food came, we never saw him until it was time to pay. Everyone is short staffed, so I get it. I ordered a French dip though and it did not come with the au jus, I never had a chance to ask for it though since I didn’t see him and he didn’t come back so I just ate my dry bread and meat. My daughters cheeseburger meat looked like charcoal but she didn’t seem to mind. We’re not really all that picky. Didn’t have a drink refill during the meal either and their goblets (while cute) don’t hold much. The grounds and building are beautiful and my daughters enjoyed seeing their Easter decor so that was the highlight.

    Not being a guest at the Inn, I was excited and surprised to get a breakfast reservation for the Copper Cafe on Open Table. The atmosphere is a combination of whimsical and magical. The waitstaff are a fine oiled machine; friendly and accommodating. I chose the corned beef hash, poached eggs and hashed browns that was accompanied by a yummy biscuit the size of three; all items ranked in my favorites of all times. Don't miss strolling through the other areas and two gift shops before exiting the Cafe. I will always return to this Cafe at The Madonna Inn whenever I am passing by.

    We are local, regular diners in the Cafe, and this was not their best day for service. We waited 15 minutes to get water, and our server told us that "our" server was too swamped to take care of us, so he was filling in. He was very nice, but the situation made it difficult for him to get back to you with refills, etc. He did his best, but the tables all around us were waiting as well, and dirty dishes piled up on all the tables. The kitchen seemed to be operating on full til because the food came quickly and was good. We will definitely eat again at the Cafe because we know this was just an off day.

    We went to celebrate our daughter getting accepted to CSU, Monterey Bay. We waited more than 30 minutes to get seated. It was unusually loud and busy compared to our usual experience. We waited more than 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I was disappointed. I’ve never had a disappointing experience here before, but the moment is gone.
