I started with the chicken tikka, freshly cooked in the tandoor and full of flavour. For the main course I had the king prawn madras, which was rich, spicy and very well balanced, with the prawns cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive, and the quieter evening made it especially relaxed. Akbar has a traditional Indian atmosphere with a lot of character, which I personally prefer to some of the more modern Indian restaurants. After enjoying my first visit so much, it was great to come back and try something different. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food in Amsterdam, Akbar is definitely worth booking.
