My wife and I live in Lawrence, so to get a variety we drive closer to KC. We were craving Italian and one of my daughters who’s a food blogger said North Italia has a good reputation (although she hasn’t been there), so we decided to try it. The reputation is deserved!
We started with 2 appetizers, the cacio e pepe arancini and fried calamari. Both we aesthetically pleasing and delicious. The calamari came with house pickled jardiniere. It was spicy and excellent. It also came batter fried at the right temperature with a marinara and a remoulade. Both were very tasty. The arancini were perfect and the filling had the savory, creamy cacio e pepe taste. Our entrees were equally delicious. Mine was the fig pizza, which featured prosciutto, arugula and a Nepalitana crust which was beautifully fermented and delicious. My wife got the braised beef rib lumache pasta. She ate more of it than I’ve ever seen her eat anything. My brookie sundae for dessert was also delicious. Don’t wear a white shirt while eating it. Lesson learned. Our server Ryan was very attentive without being overbearing. He asked us for ask for him when we return. We will.
