Cullens at The Cottage
This traditional thatched cottage provides a relaxed dining experience with international and local dishes inspired by our owner Beatrice Tollman.
Open in the summer months, it’s just a short stroll over the bridge from the castle.
This is a lovely restaurant with interesting items on the menu, all beautifully prepared and delicious. We will be returning tomorrow for dinner there.
A very attractive setting, adjacent to the Hotel at Ashford. The food is pleasant, its bistro style and the environment is quite relaxed. A very pleasant experience and a pleasant addition to our stay at Ashford.
Very good food and as there were seven of us we were given a nice quiet corner so we could talk and relax without disturbing other diners.
Wonderful service and great food. We enjoyed our meals and look forward to the next visit.
Lunch at Cullen's at the Cottage was an exceptional meal during our trip through Ireland. The service was outstanding and the food was exceptional. I ordered the mussels, and they were cooked beautifully. The serving was huge, and ended up sharing it with most of my table. Everyone enjoyed the oysters, they had a lovely mild flavor. Other fish and seafood dishes were also beautifully prepared. The restaurant is small and nicely decorated with nautical elements. Even though we were dressed down from the Hawk walk experience, we felt comfortable and welcomed. Would return again and highly recommend if you are on the grounds, or looking for something more special.
The price point was a little high for the overall quality of the experience.
Not as expensive as I thought it would be. If you want to eat in the castle grounds, this has a nice view of the castle itself if you're outside.
Best oysters in the world!
The price was a little too high for what we received. Since we already had to pay just to get onto the grounds to eat there we should have expected the high prices but we expected the quality to be better. It was just OK.
Beautiful thatched roof cottage restaurant at the Ashford Castle. Quaint little garden in front. Small bar but good bartender. Nautical themed restaurant. Food was very good. Would definitely recommend it. (The lobster was yummy!)
We would fully recommend Cullen’s at the Cottage. The food was delicious and the staff were excellent (in particular Clare Jennings). Afterwards, relaxing outside, sipping wine with marvellous views of Ashford Castle made the whole experience, perfect.
Overall it wasn’t bad, but I expected more given the location. I think it’s a good choice for family dining, but couples are better served by eating at one of the restaurants inside Ashford Castle instead.
This was a beautiful place. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
Very high quality food. The ceviche was outstanding as were the oysters.
Lovely evening at Cullens, Really good choice of menu for 2019. Our food was really lovely, good portion size and the service was excellent. We will back again soon. Thanks
Honestly amazing food and great servjcd
A wonderful location. Wish it had windows overlooking the castle. Food was good but not great. Not a restaurant for foodies. Salmon was fresh. I had the Osso Bucca and it was dry. Split a salad and it need more dressing. The bread was a disappointment. Ended up with vegan bread. Deconstructed their chocolate fudge Sunday and it was okay.
Great place for seafood. Excellent service and setting.
We had lovely weather which allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the incredible view. We had mussels and the peri peri chicken sandwich. The waitress, Ciara, was superb. She asked if liked cream in the mussels Marinere sauce and was just generally extremely attentive, personable and not over-bearing. She definitely enhanced the already brilliant experience.
Excellent service and food in a lovely venue. Fish and seafood menu heavy menu. Quite expensive.
We had great service from Claire who made sure we had everything we needed. She always had a smile on her face and knew alot about each dish. Beautiful place to eat.
Very attentive polite staff
we really enjoyed the whole stay at ashford castle the food and place was amazing and the service also
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere! Very accommodating!
Some staff members need to work on their attitude.......
We ate here twice in the two nights we were in Cong. After eating boring fish and chips for two weeks, this was very well prepared and presented, and of the highest quality. If you are used to eating good food, this is the only place to eat.
The overall service and good was very good but the rice pudding was not available. It is my favourite. However the icecream substitute was worth eating.
Wonderful dinner and service! Thank you! We can’t wait to go back
Two of the party had mussels and were very ill for 3days . The service was poor . Food in general not good . We have eaten in Cullen's many times but never had an experience as bad as this one 😦😦😦
It took 40 minutes for our starters to arrive. When they did the oysters were badly shucked and the soup had plastic.
It was basicaly disorganised with weak service. It is a shame as the food was overall good. Waitress failed to tell us the specials and then had to ask the kitchen.
Super food and service everybody was really attentive, especially David and Alan.
We will definitely return.
Very different atmosphere from most ....a once in a lifetime meal.
Design thoughtfully carried out.
Amazing food, ambience and service. Easily the best meal we had on our vacation.
Loved our lunch at this lovely cottage at Ashford Castle with cool history! Delicious!
Excellent quaity food and service, fresh fish and steak cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, lovely decor.
Stunning place, with delicious food and very friendly and informative service. We will definitely return thank you!
Had dinner with family while staying in Ashlie’s for a special family occasion. Superb food, absolutely incredible service and just so friendly. Would recommend without hesitation and the seafood platter was the highlight of the evening. A superb experience overall and excellent service from young Mark.
Wonderful food and great ambience. Looking forward to the next visit.
My expectations must have been too high. The service was superb, but we were expecting more from the main course. The desert was delicious.
