An exquisite Japanese eatery in the Bal Harbour shops, Makoto bears the name of the chef and owner, Makoto Okuwa. The focus here is on modernizing Japanese cuisine, via inventive sushi, robata-grilled skewers, and stunning presentation. There are two types of ramen on offer here. The chicken ramen combines tender meat with tonkatsu broth. The house ramen is a luxurious mix of ground beef, pork, garlic, and a hit of chili. Contemporary yet always authentic.

Dragonfly builds an elegant and authentically Japanese menu around this concept, making this one of the most desirable places to eat in Downtown Doral. Had a wonderful first experience at Dragonfly! Happy Hour was terrific. Our server was super knowledgeable and kind. Food was excellent. Ambience had a great vibe.

Shokudo roughly means “The Path to Good Food” and that’s certainly what regulars get every time they visit this Buena Vista based Asian bistro. The menu treads an eclectic and wondrous path between pho, sushi, ceviche, and some incredible ramen-style dishes. The Shiroshoyu Ramen combines chashu pork with bamboo shoots, egg, and the more unusual addition of burdock. There’s a spicy Jjamppong packed with mussels, calamari, and shrimp, plus plenty of other noodle and soup options. One of the most inventive menus in Miami.

Las Olas is the home of exciting and enticing fusion restaurants, including this creative blend of Thai and Japanese cuisine. Sky Thai Sushi takes the best dishes from both countries and puts a unique spin on them, serving them up alongside an extensive and acclaimed sake menu. There are ten types of soup on offer here at any one time, including a great substitute for traditional ramen: the chicken wonton noodle soup. Shrimp tempura, bean sprouts, and chicken accompany the wontons and noodles in a warming broth. Very filling- it’s not called the “Big Bowl” for nothing.

Had a great Galentines with my co-workers. The food was delicious and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat outside by the fountain.
