El Born in Brooklyn, New York has a number of different menus, all of which are influenced by Barcelona. The name itself comes from the El Born district of this famous city, where ancient alleyways feature the latest fashions and nightlife venues. Here in Brooklyn, El Born serves up new twists on Spanish favorites.
Love the food!!!!
The food, drinks, and vibe at this place are very good. Worth traveling to Greenpoint for! However, I made a reservation for 5 people, and they tried to tell us that a standard 4 person table was actually a table for 5. They had 3 settings against the bench. Now, we're all relatively small people, but we could not fit. So when we grabbed a nearby table to offer our 5th diner an actual seat and place setting, we were reprimanded. Finally, they agreed to bring an extra chair over for our 5th diner to eat at the head of the table, however this was very clearly not their intention. So just for the future - a reservation for 5 should actually be able to seat 5 grown adults comfortably.
The male server was very stressful and pushy and appeared irritated, but other times I have been at El Born servers been nice and service minded.
The service was a little slow and a little confused, but friendly and helpful. The food was seriously excellent. Highly recommend that Chef’s menu option for value and variety.
Delicious Tapas, wait staff was fast & friendly. I would certainly recommend, however for smaller parties as it's a smaller venue. Also some communal seating, which can be hit or miss.
Great food and ambiance. The service was good. A nice place for a special occasion. Would go back for happy hour or tapas Tuesday.
One of my favorite spots in Greenpoint. Delicious food, well priced, really fun experience for groups, and the service is always great!
Had a whole bunch of tapas and all of them were excellent! Nice place and great service. Gracias!
Went for a Saturday brunch (bottomless of course) and it was a great time! The value of the meal I could not believe. We were three people and we got to split the 4 tapas, tray of paella, and dessert. The drinks were delicious and the perfect complement to the meal. I don't even live in Greenpoint but I will be visiting this place as often as I can. Can't wait to try the other paella's on the menu!
Food was really good. Definitely coming back for the rest of the tapas. Enjoyed the vibe a lot.
Had an amazing time! Amazing food, drinks, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
Great service, delicious food and overall sub a nice place to spend the night. Best part that it’s a block from the subway!
We went to El Born for the Wednesday paella night and it was absolutely delicious! The deal is impossible to beat ($49 for paella for two + a bottle of wine), and the food is excellent. We added an appetizer as well, the brussels sprouts. Their selection of regional cured meats is awesome. At times, we felt a little rushed with the service, but overall the waiter was attentive and helpful. We will come back to try different appetizers and because the food is delicious!
It's become our favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. Always reminds us of the wonderful meals we had in the El Born district in Barcelona. And great cocktails.
El born was okay food wise...didn't blow my socks off. Service was really lovely and very easy going relaxing atmosphere. Price point for the food is just a little high for me and that is why I'm less likely to return
Went with my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The food was very good but there were just too many problems with the service for us to overlook. Waiter did not bring water or ask us even once during the meal if we needed anything (which we did). Also one of our plates was forgotten and then basically at the point in the meal where you would be asking for the check the waiter finally realized and brought out the plate without asking if we still wanted it. Unfortunate really, because the food was good, but these annoyances really can change your whole experience when dining out.
Delightful evening. All was delicious, except for the sardines. As other reviewers have mentioned foul smelling and tasting. The six other tapa plates were very good. We didn't want to order the paella in fear of more of that fishy scent. Worth a try, just skip the fish!
Todo muy rico. La paella deliciosa
Amazing brunch experience
Great food and value but WAY too loud. Found it very difficult to have a conversation without shouting.
The food was incredible (as always) and the staff really took care of our group. Thank you!
Once again, I had a great meal and experience at El Born. The staff were efficient and professional, and the food was outstanding. I highlight the black rice paella, the red sangria, and the tres leches cake. Any restaurant that can make all 3 very well deserves credit, and that is the case with El Born.
Looked for a place within a mile of Brooklyn Steel. Saw some nice reviews of this place and it didn't disappoint. Great Brussel sprouts, endive salad, and seared tuna.
Amazing food & wine. Pre-fixe was amazing, its actually a great thing having the chef chose the meals for you as everything on the menu looks so delicious.
Amazing food, but weird service. Staff not very friendly
Went for a Saturday brunch with friends. The food is spectacular and the brunch specials are great! One of the best mimosas I’ve had. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes to taste a little bit of everything.
Came here with my parents, fiance, and sister & brother-in-law. The food was amazing, the waiter was very attentive and willing to work with food allergies (including suggesting alterations to menu items), and it was quiet enough for us to hear each other without having to yell. Granted, it was on a Sunday and wasn't super crowded so we probably had more personalized attention, but I will definitely be back for more!
Lovely staff. Good happy hour value.
El Born never disappoints! The food, drinks and staff are all amazing.
We were seated right away. We went for the bottomless brunch option, which was a great value for the price. Service was great and attentive, and we didn’t feel rushed out. Food was excellent.
5PM Happy Hour and Dinner reservation before a 7:30PM show at the met. Exceptional value for the happy hour and drinks. Great croquetas and the bacon wrapped figs were probably my favorite.
After living in Barcelona for years, this is arguably better than nice restaurants there. Super authentic, high quality ingredients, and not overpriced. The chef's tasting is $45 per person and was filling for four! Cannot recommend enough.
They were trying to turnover the table and rushed us throughout our meal.
Long, narrow, convivial space, friendly, efficient staff. Good fur drinks, food was uneven. A few great dishes, but most were near misses - under or over seasoned, missing acid to round flavor.
The owner attacked me on yelp for writing a fair criticisms of the squid ink paella being fishy. I had this dish in Spain and in other places in and the same seafood selection as well while it never smelled fishy. She started to school me on what it needs to taste like and told me to change my review to 1 star instead of the 2 I gave because the service wasn't bad. If you want a good expriance with good quality food than Brooklyn has a lot to offer. I prefer not to give my money to rude owners who don't understand the difference between a review and an attack. Simply mind blowing.
Excellent service and food! Would definitely recommend it to everybody.
The staff was amazing, and probably one of the best brunch spots in BK.
Went for brunch at 12:30 and lingered until 3:30 because it was just that kind of meal - great food, great people, good times. We were 4 adults and 3 little kids and we sat in the booth in the back which was perfect. We are not heavy drinkers at all but we did the bottomless brunch deal anyway because it was family style which was fun. Plus we ended up drinking a little more than usual. I’m so happy we chose this place because my friends had driven down from CT and so we really wanted to give them a long, fun, delicious meal and El Born delivered on all of those.
Chef menu is worth it and chef can take into account your dietary restrictions on the spot. Very enjoyable!
The service was very attentive and extremely polite and smooth. I was expecting a bit more from some of the tapas we ordered, everything was mediocre and the price wasn’t cheap for Brooklyn. But it was very decent and the service was so nice. Thank you.
