Fade Street Social - The Gastro Bar Ratings and Reviews
I love this place, have been many times and the food and service is always great.
I noticed a couple of changes that need to be addressed, they have taken their Languedoc wine off the menu, which I loved. Also the dish that was always spectacular, the truffle pasta (tapas, gastro bar) used to have tons of grated parmesan hanging over the edges of the dish, this has sadly been taken away. Portions have got a little smaller gradually. But I still do love the flavours of the food, second to none. The service was wonderful, I like the way they stagger the dishes in such an informal manner so you never know what you'll get first. Always nice to either start with a drink up in their cocktail bar or end with or even both! I'll be back, a big fan.
Food was fabulous. Really enjoyed our meal. However we found the waiter was very anxious to take away our food. He was on top of us the minute we put down our forks and even swiped away chips and our deserts that were not finished. But overall a lovely evening
Customer service was exceptional right from our entry into the restaurant. The front desk was really friendly and the waitress assigned to our table (Tess) was patient and gave good hints. The Mohito Mondays cocktails were excellent, particularly the spicy and passionfruit ones. The ambience was perfect for a small group dinner, and the tapas plates were delicious. Would recommend highly.
The food and wine were both really excellent and the restaurant was beautifully set.
The lengthy introduction about the menu at the start was a bit overwhelming.
Unfortunately, there was a huge stag party (20+) in at the time who were incredibly loud and made several speeches. I saw one staff member ask them to be quiet but it fell on deaf ears. It was hard to have a conversation and I thought a manager could have been more forceful. Just bad luck on our part - I think it would otherwise have been a fantastic night.
The food was very good. One of the servers came to ask if we were familiar with the menu and recommended a lot of great options as soon as we sat down. After we ordered the food and drinks came out quickly but then we were essentially forgotten about. Lesson is to order what you want right away and be prepared for a longer experience after you order. Price for what we received was absolutely fair. Overall well worth it.
This was the third time in Fade St. Social Gastro Bar and it was the worst of them all:
-Clumsy explanation of the dishes
-bad humour by the employee
-way too much waiting time between dishes.
The food itself was 4-stars - which is good - but everything else on this day didn't really work. Maybe a bad day in the Office, I assume.
Great food , couldn't fault it .
Service was a little all over the place and not well managed , our plates were taken after our first tapas dish but then had to be replaced , ordered coffee but never received it. Not a big deal but it wasnt overly busy so shouldn't have happened. But overall we had a great night.
Casual yet sophisticated, my wife and I loved the surroundings and enjoyed the chance to sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare meals. Our hostess and then our waitress were welcoming, warm and helpful. The music was current beat-driven lounge at just the right volume. You can dress presentably, nicely or deck out and feel comfortable in the setting. The menu is varied with creative combinations within a single dish - however, the only knock - at least on this night - was the tuna and steak didn't live up to the marvelous presentation. Don't leave without trying the bread and mushroom butter, however - incredible.
Regulars here every time we got out in town. It's without doubt the nicest place in Dublin for outstanding food and service. Every dish is delicious. Atmosphere is awesome. we always like to sit at the bar to have a good nosey at the chefs at work. Cannot compliment FSS enough, Love it!!!
We were on vacation with friends from the US and London. Our server (wish I could remember his name) was outstanding in helping us with the menu. He shared his personal favorites and the most popular dishes. We selected several of those and were not disappointed. The mini goat cheese logs were a big hit with our group. As was the truffle pasta and charred tuna loin and charred point end steak. They had a good wine list - not as extensive as we might have hoped, but we found some good wines to share. The atmosphere is really high energy. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would go back, if ever in Dublin. Service was downgraded only because in a tapas restaurant, it is so hard to keep up with all of the tables. We found ourselves looking for our server a couple of times. Did not spoil the evening though.
Fade Street Social was sublime as usual. I had the point end steak and skinny fries. Also the cep mushrooms as a side. The wine list, like the menu is extensive. I had several proseccos. Everything came within a reasonable time, and I had no issue. Why I wonder is this steak only cooked medium rare?
Good service, good food nice decor and ambiance. Tables were a little too close together - the aroma of next doors crab didn't mix nicely with the taste of my dessert and tables had to be shuffled to allow us to escape.
Good place for unique tapas style food and drinks. Don't expect a big feed.
This place specializes in small plates, similar to tapas, and the food is fantastic! My wife and I like good food, and we both were really enthusiastic about the food here. We had soft shell crab in sesame spice flour with miso mayonnaise, octopus carpaccio, chargrilled leeks with shaved
Parmesan, duck egg and hazelnut mayonnaise, and crispy salt cod brandade and squid
with pickled red pepper, chick peas and chorizo. All was fabulous! My mouth is watering just from typing this. Wine selection was the best we saw during our Ireland vacation. Very special place.
Wife and I went for the Tapas. Really loud - like eating in a crowded bar. There were 3 seating options that I could see: 1) we sat at the long table in the middle of the room with the "saddle" seating. Not recommended as your neighbors are literally sitting shoulder to shoulder with you, and it's impossible to have a conversation without yelling at the top of your lungs. 2) sit at the bar: still crowded but at least this option affords the option of sitting next to your date, so you can turn to face your date and slightly ignore the people sitting right next to you. 3) there are small tables for what looked like parties of 4. Maybe they sit parties of 2 there also, but they seemed a little less crammed then the long table. So, if you're a soft-spoken person, this is not the restaurant for you. If you have a booming voice, you'll have no problem.
The food is very good. Tapas style: small tasting dishes, perfect for sharing. We had the lobster "hot dog" (a lobster roll) which was very good. Bread plate was yummy. Cheese air bag was good. Some sort of salmon on a cracker, which was meh. We had 1 other, which I can't recall. Bottom line: about 4+ dishes per 2 people.
Very good cocktails, wine, beer selection.
Food was very disappointing, lacked flavour, cocktails 🍹 excellent and friendly service. When we complained about food, it was handled well and we were offered free deserts which was nice. However wouldn't recommend for food, much better food available elsewhere
Very enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere for a Saturday night. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and though it was quite busy we were never waiting long. Impressive wine list and we enjoyed our bottle of red. Food was very tasty and a wide variety. Only issues I had were with the portion size. We got three tapas each but the portions were on the small size, especially for what you are paying. it is very good quality food but I'd expect six tapa's to be more than enough for us both which I didn't feel it was. Dessert was great but €4.25 for a coffee is too steep.
Good was 'okay' . Nothing new whatsoever, since I was last there 6 months ago. Menus tired and a bit grubby. Gin and tonics watery, ice logged. It's fine. Wouldn't be rushing back. I think it's had its day and is flying on its reputation, but it's a bit jaded now.
Food really good but expensive for what u get. Service was excellent. Wine really good. Loved the gesture of the half price cocktail after food . There were 3 of us dining and got the option of sitting outside which was excellent because it was a beautiful day/evening on Tuesday and we weren't rushed off the table. The only downside which was extremely annoying was the 10 beggars who approached our table at different stages throughout the evening.
We ate from the Tapas Menu.
