Best Restaurants for Anniversaries in Clifton, Washington, D.C. Area

It was a beautiful day so we sat outside which was lovely. We had an excellent server - very attentive but not overly so. My meal was delicious and extremely reasonably priced.

We love this place. They even carry a special prix fixe menu for anniversaries.

It has been many years since we have dined at The 1789, which was our go to restaurant ions ago. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and were impressed on many levels. We asked to be seated in the bar area, and our request was given. Our fabulous server, Sara (h?), could not have been nicer. She effortlessly took care of many tables in the bar area. She was gracious, knowledgeable and knew in detail all the menu items. We took her recommendations (Halibut and Duck), and were so glad we did. Outstanding in every way. We will be returning. And, thank you, Sara for your great attention to us and to every detail. My only “Con”, and I know this is a difficult one to address: when we go out to a fine dining venue and dress for the occasion, I do not expect to be seated next to people in shorts, sneakers and t-shirts who are continually on their phones taking photos. Again, hard for a venue to address this in our current times.

I have patronized L’Auberge on and off for some 30 years. The ambience, food quality, and service have been consistently excellent over that long time, One technicality that needs improvement: their telephone line for reservations should not simply ring and ring indefinitely when they are closed but should simply say “we are closed until such-and-such time”. Also, their online reservations option should be simple to find at their web site. But,again, their food and ambience and service have been consistently excellent.

The Fairfax Team helped make our anniversary extra special. Trevor’s service was fantastic and all of the special touches from the kitchen and the front of house gave us a meal to remember and pictures to prove it.
