Best Restaurants for Foodies in Kailua-Kona

Very impressed with new menu and chef. More of an Asian flair than before. Short rib lettuce wraps, hoisin baby back ribs, a vegan mushroom garlic ravioli, and a fried Kampachi collar (a special not on regular menu) all very delicious. Will definitely return!

Brown’s Beach House – Absolutely Stunning! The views at Brown’s Beach House are absolutely stunning! We sat outside overlooking the ocean and were treated to a beautiful sunset. It was the perfect setting for a memorable evening. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful, and the service made the experience even better. The house salad was fabulous and huge, and their homemade bread made with purple sweet potatoes was delicious. The grilled octopus was okay, but it wasn’t our favorite. However, the scallops were absolutely delicious! The drinks were wonderful as well and rounded out the evening perfectly. Overall, Brown’s Beach House is a beautiful spot for a special dinner, with breathtaking ocean views, excellent service, and some delicious dishes. Definitely worth visiting for the sunset alone!

Everything about our experience was top notch. Merriman’s 5 star ratings and their reputation in the community are well deserved. Highly recommended and no matter where you are on the Island the drive will reward you with a great experience.

Once again, Chef Soto has knocked it out of the park. The menu evolves. The coconut washed tequila cocktail, Cascara, is unique. For the next month, there is a "Taverna" menu with delicious Greek selections. Get it Pre Fix or a la carte, with or without the wine pairing,which has most excellent obscure wines. For example a clean, mineral driven white with nice acidity, Assyrtiko, from Santorini. It pairs well with the appetizer trio of dip selections, as well as fish. The lamb shank - killer! Apparently the taste if Greece concept will be expanded to other regional Mediterranean cuisines. This is the best food on the Koala Coast. Can't wait.
