A good visit.
Sommelier was great.
Food was fab.
Good value for a very generous portion of Sunday roast. Only downside is that the restaurant is quite dark which is a shame when it’s such a sunny day outside
The best Sunday Roast in town!
Excellent. The waiter’s knowledge of and enthusiasm for the cuts of steak on the menu were outstanding; equally matched by the wine waitress, who didn’t mind when I’d made a mistake in ordering a grape variety I didn’t like, and she recommended an excellent wine and swapped it without batting an eyelid. Great service, delicious food, great atmosphere.
A restaurant with Great food, Great atmosphare and Great service
We have used Hawksmoor on numerous occasions and it never disappoints. This was a birthday celebration
and the staff made us very welcome. Look forward to our next visit.
Food very good, although the Chateaubriand we had was overdone and not medium rare as requested - a bit of a shame for a £100 steak!
I’ve been before and the service has always been very good. Just not the case this time. I get the fact it’s meant to be a relaxed vibe, but when I’m spending £300 on a meal for two, relaxed doesn’t mean sloppy. I don’t expect to have to keep asking to have our wine re-filled (alternatively just leave it on the table and we’ll do it ourselves), I don’t expect to wait 20 mins for an espresso and to have to ask 3 different waiters until someone finally remembers to bring it (to be fair, they did take this off the bill), and I don’t expect to wait 15 minutes from receiving the bill before we can attract the attention of someone to actually pay (waitress seemingly not happy that we dared ask her to come and take payment for a table that wasn’t part of her section).
So, no major issues, but just a number of small ones, which were just irritating.
I go to restaurants a lot (like 2-3 times a week) including Michelin star restaurants a couple of times a year and this was really really the worst experience in many years along all dimensions incl. quality of food, service, and overall ambience.
Simply don’t go there; plenty of other fantastic places to have steak in London.
Excellent Restaurant, Food was fantastic, knowledgable staff when it came to drinks and the service was second to none.
The steak was mouth watering and all sides delicious (wish the mash had been a bit bigger portion)
We didn’t catch our waiters names but they were both exceptional.
We loved the atmosphere and had a throughly lovely dinner prior to the theatre.
Will be back again and recommend to friends.
The food, as always, was amazing! The reason I love hawksmoor is the service and in did not disappoint. We were visiting for birthdays and made to feel special as well as enjoying great food! Would highly recommend
It’s Hawksmoor. That means ridiculous consistency. Brilliant service and decor to kill people for. Of course we will go again, we would be mad not to!
I had arranged to meet my lawyer who is also an important business associate at Hawksmoor for dinner at 9pm on the 19th July 2019. He arrived at 20:45 and spoke to an Oriental looking woman at the reception. He was ushered upstairs to the bar and told our table would be ready for 9pm. I arrived at Hawksmoor at 20:50 and spoke to a really charming young man. I also went upstairs to the bar. We ordered two or three drinks each waiting for our table and when it got to 21:15 I thought that maybe we might have been accidentally overlooked. I spoke to the same young man I met at the reception and it was clear that there was probably an overlap. As we were walking into the restaurant my associate saw the same 'oriental' looking woman and said 'oh, you must have forgotten us'. The response was both surly and rude' 'What are you talking about?' she stated gruffly. I was taken aback at her response as was my associate. It left a sour taste. I did not enjoy my time at Hawksmoor and was deeply embarrassed. It will not come as a surprise when I tell you that I will not be going back to Hawksmoor and have canceled two further visits.
Delicious Food with good service in the heart of London
Great food, great service, great location. We'll definitely revisit
The staff Amazing
Our waiter was super amazing
The steaks are excellent as you would expect. The mussels are great and the chocolate & mascarpone pudding is really lovely. Value for money is reasonable but it is not the cheapest. I liked the location of the Air Street branch too and the place was full on a Thursday, which says something.
Superb in every respect.
My favourite Hawksmoor
The food was outstanding and having wanted to try the restaurant for a while we weren’t disappointed. We were sat with the dessert menus for around 20 minutes before the orders were taken and then made to move because the allotted 2 hours were over. Had the service been slightly quicker with this then we may have finished in time and not had to disrupt the meal by moving. However that was the only negative from our visit. Overall would definitely return and recommend to others
Table of 5, 2 of the steaks were not as requested (very over cooked). Very noisy restaurant and poor value for the overall experience
As ever, service was amazing. Our food though, especially our steaks were average at best.
Good service, friendly and efficient without any table hovering. Our Rib eye and fillet steak was beautiful if a little too over cooked for rare....still was delicious though. Only complaint it they had run out of their triple cooked thick cut chips as featured on the menu. It’s was 7pm on a Tuesday night and had run our(!)...very weird and very annoying. They did offer fries for free but just not the same. Must try harder Hawksmoor.
Excellent food, excellent service, one of the best experiences ever in any restaurant.
Excellent, if somewhat overpriced grub, served up by slightly disinterested staff. Still kicking myself for not having a Shaky Pete to get the evening started...
Good value restaurant, excellent food and customer service
We had the roast dinner and was absolutely delicious! Maybe a bit pricey, and could have done with a couple more roast potato's but highly recommend.
Our waitress was lovely and very helpful assisting with dietary requirements.
We do Sunday Roast a Hawksmoor whenever we’re in London. The cocktails are innovative, fun, and always so delicious. And there’s not a place we’ve tried that does a traditional Sunday beef roast as well as Hawksmoor. The beef, of course, roasted to perfection, sliced thick, with a lovely rim of tasty fat to make it rich and succulent. The duck-fat roasted potatoes are a marvel of crunchy shells surrounding buttery soft insides. And my absolute favorites, the giant Yorkshire Pud, light and crisp, perfect for sopping up that silky, beefy bone marrow gravy. Not a better British meal for a lovely Sunday afternoon!
Enjoyed excellent Sunday roast with my family. Highly recommended.
Poor food, nice waiter and average surroundings
This is one of those restaurants that offers a lot, but has a single negative that will keep me from dining here again unless there is a positive improvement. That factor - NOISE! The dining area is quite large - consisting of several open connected areas, but with low ceiling. The effect is that you hear a roar of conversation from several hundred diners making it very difficult to carry on a quiet conversation at a table for two. This cause everyone to speak louder in order to be heard, which only increases the noise level. I would liken it to dining outside next to the runways of Heathrow. Otherwise, the service was great and the food was very delicious.
The food itself was amazing, we both had the steak and it’s probably the best place in london to eat steak. However due to its reputation and it’s prices, I expected it to be quite a dressy/glam place. It was very dated and old fashioned, I could have probably worn jeans and a top so it’s not really a place to get dressed up to. There was a table nearby that was extremely loud but we didn’t complain about it in the end. The staff were polite but as mentioned before, wasn’t as dressed up as I thought they should be. It needs to either be a top market restaurant where you get dressed up to go for that special occasion or just another steak house such as miller and carter.
Wir empfehlen die big cuts.
I had a great dover sole, but my family tell me that the steaks are delicious.
I'm always looking out for good lunchtime deals and the fact that you can get 3 courses plus champagne for £35 is a bargain. They don't charge a supplement for the Rump Steak and it was a proper sized portion too. It's maybe not 100% refined but some really lovely flavours and proper puds too
Lovely place and excellent food especially the steak and also the scampi.
Good food but really slow to come. Over an hour for main courses. Staff member gave us a complimentary drink which was great but if going be prepared to wait.
Also insisted on us waiting in bar before going to table. Tables around us were brought in when they didn’t order drinks but we were left as we ordered. Once in restaurant clearly this was a sales tactic as restaurant was just over half full
Steaks weren't very good. Not a good experience considering what you pay. Staff were friendly but over all disappointing steaks and ambiance .
Our first time, we’ll be back but quality and cooking of both steaks disappointing. Everything else was great.
Ace. Top. Great.
Service was good, however the food was disappointing. I ordered a Rib eye steak and it arrived on a completely bare plate , no garnish just fries on the side.
Having just returned from France and Italy I have enjoyed meals at half the cost which were served with style and also looked the part.
We enjoyed the set lunch and the whole experience overall and both agree we would return. Service felt a little stretched at times
