One of my favourite restaurants in London. Simply does what it does very well
Scotch egg started not to be missed. Great pies, well balanced filling with accompaniments.
Good range of wines. Attentive service. Fine dining that is worth the effort!
Excellent service. Good choice on menu.
Parmesan and truffle oil chips were way too salty and spoiled the flavours of the rest of the food.
The sirloin steak was average.
The apple tart tatin was a disappointment: I had one here last year which was exquisite and recommended it to my partner - sadly this did not live up to expectation: the pastry was poor and it seemed that caramel sauce was thrown over a stack of barely cooked apples.
I would expect much better for this price level.
A lovely space and the food was good if a little overpriced.
Service wasn't great though.
Waited half an hour for a table that was pre-booked (and the restaurant was 3/4 empty) then waited half an hour to be served.
Not sure what was going on but the definitely weren't on their A game.
We had starters and main and a carafe of wine . I would say at outset that service was excellent a very helpful waitress . Food was very good sort of place to bring overseas visitors to to show typical English food
We had Scotch eggs to start and for mains steak and kidney pudding and curried mutton pie All were good quality as were the sides
My main quibbles - one minor in that it was a bit noisy from the bar area . Bigger moan were the prices - wine was extortionate and good for ingredients should have been less . £120 for two course for two including cheapest wine on list not good
But thank you to lovely waitress and no question you will eat well
Was asked to book by a friend for lunch as she works near. Was a real suprise nestled on the main Street, lovely decor and amazing staff. Would definitely go again. 9/10 only as I fancied the pie but it's a 30min wait and we were on a bit of a tight schedule.
It was a great breakfast although I was very confused about the price of some of the sides for example sliced avocado
Good cocktails. The old fashioned was delicious. Try the Scottish Hens Egg and the Grilled Octopus.
Really lovely evening for my mum’s birthday. We were lucky to catch Welly Wednesday and the beef wellington is just absolutely incredible. The curried mutton pie also sends you to heaven and back again. If I could go there everyday I would.
Good meal with slightly chaotic service. Thumping music a bit on the loud side. Food was delicious. Wouldn’t suggest this venue for a quiet date, but it was convenient and perfect for a friends’ get-together
Such a shame have always loved this place, took my son out for a chart and supper early after work. Thought the food and menu was disappointing and the steamed steak and kidney pud was very average and no side dishes !! very bland.
My sons shrimp burger was ok just poor value with no sides !!
not the greatest meal but definitely the most expensive
table was cold and noisy not sure if we shall return , bit rough lost its charm
we did however enjoy the Scarfes Bar !! amazing warm and welcoming
We ordered drinks and had to wait 20 minutes for them to arrive. We were asked if we wanted bread and we got one slice with the oysters. Real shame
Pies are a must - very delicious. You pay really for the setting. Service is very good but not outstanding, could have had better communication across sections & cleared quicker.
Great find. Very British experience. The pies were yummy.
The service and atmosphere are excellent. I can’t fault the waiters who clearly enjoy the role and were very respectful. The food is well presented but a few favours over powered the dishes, this was true of every course. Lost a star for the size of the bill which was a little strong for the quality of the food.
Family celebration, experience marred by over attentive and surly staff who kept jostling me in my seat to get to the adjacent tables wine cooler.
Overall very poor experience and left feeling extremely disappointed :(
The service is good, but the main course sauce are too salty on pork pie and beef Wellington. We had a great time.
Lunch was excellent though the pies for our main courses took a long time to arrive. We had seen the warning that they would take 30 minutes but they probably took an hour from placing our order.
Love the energy and the healthy protein options (poached chicken egg whites and spinach)
We had a lovely evening. Pam and the team made us feel very welcome. Food and setting very good.
Attached to the Rosewall Hotel a lively vibrant take on British food. The steak and kidney pie was delicious
We loved this place. We took a friend to celebrate a special birthday and staff couldn’t have been more attentive once they knew the reason we were there. The scotch egg starter was to die for! We all went for the pies (one for the pork pie, three for the steak and kidney puddings) which were amazing! The wine we choose was excellent, with help from the expert knowledge of the sommelier. We did manage one pudding between the four of us (the paris brest) as we were all very full by then. A lovely Sunday afternoon treat for all of us, not forgetting the superb collection of gin in the Gin Bar.
This was a marvelous evening. Began sitting at the bar, where our bartender invented a new Martini for me on the spot. Moved to a table for dinner, where we ate some amazing food: starting with the best Scotch eggs ever and a staggeringly good lobster thermidor tarte. Great wine selection, lovely desserts, food really was fantastic.
But, maybe even better than the food was the service. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive - they really made the evening extra special. Thanks to you all 🙂
What a wonderful way to spend your birthday! The food was super yummy, the atmosphere was on point and the service was flawless.
Thank you for such a great experience and wonderful yummy food!
Buzz restaurant more pricey but my other half has always wanted to eat here so booked as a treat. I am a fussy eater so not a great deal of choice for me personally but my partner loved his choice of lobster Thermidor pastry and steak and kidney pudding. The chips cooked in truffle oil are fab together with the carrots. No room for puddings but a great bottle of wine suggested by the sommelier when I told him my preferences for wine.A good meal and one I would recommend to friends.
Wonderful service, scrummy food, wine expert to hand - thank you!
Food was too simple. Cocktails were simple, would expect more interesting tastes...
We celebrated our 5 year anniversary here and it was a lovely evening. Great atmosphere, lovely food (we had the Wednesday special: beef wellington) and really nice staff. We were brought a free dessert as we were celebrating an occasion- which was a nice surprise.
Wow. What a pudding!
Mutton curry pie was excellent. Server was appropriately attentive. A very nice dining experience overall.
Been several times before but fussy overbearing service and a poor table location means I won't return!
Attended with friends for a birthday celebration. Really relaxed atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of wine and the food was really enjoyable
A really lovely atmosphere with great food and service. Wine list is quite expensive though
Best Gin bar in London, just missed the extra dry tonic. Exquisit Starters, Pies and risotto. Good wine List with fair prices. Very friendly service with a few mistakes (Wrong tonic, Fries as a side forgotten but invoiced) . Super location.
Beautiful restaurant, great ambiance, excellent food and attentive staff
Amazing restaurant, great food, but the ambiance and the service is what makes the place. Server went out of his way to cater for my allergies.
Will definitely be going back!
Waiters are not attentive, I wait for the main dish for about half an hour after I finished the starter, food was not good, risotto taste weird, the 50 day aged sirloin had not much beef taste, the texture is dry, and I ordered medium rare but it turned out looking and tasting like medium well.
Food was really horrible, everything had a weird after taste.. the truffle fries just literally had tons of grated cheese on them which had disgusting taste.. the half of the fries themselves were tiny little cut pieces instead of normal sized fries. The only tasty thing food wise was the bread and butter at the beginning and the side green salad.. the bill was also huge which was totally not worth it at all. Dissapointing
Stunning food that deserved a more fitting and 'fine-dining' settling. Though still an enjoyable evening, staff attentiveness could have been improved. I would instead recommend The Pie Room, over this establishment for sampling this innovative chef's creations.
I've eaten here a lot but this was disappointing. We had the fish of the day which was pan fried fillet of brill. It was overcooked and not very tasty. It was also expensive for what it was. On the plus side, the tarte tatin was lovely!
