   DO NOT EAT HERE. It was a complete waste of $200. Horrible service and tasteless food. We had a reservation and when we arrived the restaurant was almost entirely empty yet they gave us the worst table in the restaurant. Right next to the chaotic kitchen (see photos). We asked if we could eat outside or have a better table inside but the hostess said they were all reserved. Major attitude. Funny how most of those tables were still empty when we left. We got a bird’s eye view of the chaos between the manager, servers and kitchen staff. The food had zero flavor. All 4 of us had to add salt and pepper to our meals, and my husband had to get up and find a salt and pepper shaker because it was never brought to us when he asked. We had to ask 3 times for a drink refill. And to be honest we never figured out who our server was. The first guy just disappeared so we grabbed whoever we could find when we needed something. The manager ended up taking our order when she realized we had been sitting there for a long time. Wish we could get that night back and have a do-over somewhere else. Terrible meal and service; do not waste your money!

   Terrible service. Sat down with the family and within minutes appetizers came. Wine order followed and wrong. Overall service as terrible from waiter through to the manager.

   Weirdest dining experience ever. They have a happy hour from 1 to 6, but no one was sitting at the bar and the place looked empty. I had a reservation for 5:45, but arrived at 5:30, I asked if I could sit at bar and was told I'd have to wait until 5:45 (empty bar). So I waited, and returned at 5:45, asked to sit at bar and hostess said bar wouldn't be serving until 6:00. Who has a happy hour from 1-6 and an empty bar and refuses to seat people? We did eventually get to order from the happy hour menu, and the meatball was impressive. I also interrupted the hostess when she was about to put on deodorant when I asked for the wine menu. I even saw them turn away people without a reservation and the place was at about 50% capacity. TLDR; food ok, service not so good. Will not return.

   The place was nearly empty when we arrived. We were seated at a wobbly table, and greeted by the server in training. The server was friendly, but probably could have benefitted from a little more training. Our appetizer never came out of the kitchen. My dinner was served. Several minutes later, my wife’s dinner and our drinks arrived. The restaurant wasn’t busy, so not sure where the kitchen disconnect was. My vongole dish tasted decent, but there was an unusual amount of oil at the bottom of the plate, and no dish to discard my shells. My wife’s dish was gluten free - the pasta was undercooked and flooded with red sauce. (She did not get sick, so they handled the gluten well). Overall the restaurant has a great location and some good menu items, but the customer experience is a little lacking.

   If you do not have the staff to take care of the customers then you should close down and not stay open. 30 minutes before a server brought water and bread. 60 minutes before we got drinks and placed our food over. Finished dinner after 3 hours! This place has really gone downhill :(

    We went for Father's Day dinner. Everything was really great...food, service, table. However when we first arrived we had to wait for 15 minutes. We were quite confused since we had reservations in advance. The hostess said there was 3 parties ahead of us??? Didn't make sense since we had reservations. We found out later that most of the servers called in sick and they were left with only 2!!! The poor hostess was trying to keep it all together along with our server. It was fine with us. Once we were seated everything went very smooth. We did think that they should have had us seated and explained the situation and offer drinks/bread that the manager/hostess probably could have served us??? Oh well. Overall we had a great time and a delicious dinner. We will definitely return.

    Not quite sure what was going on, but there seemed to be some miscommunication between the actual server and her helper. The wait time was long and we weren't sure who to ask when we needed something. As far as the food, calamari app was crispy and cooked well. Sauce for the eggplant parm was mediocre and didn't have much flavor. Tiger prawns were overcooked. I would not recommend this restaurant.

    Very good Italian fair - beyond the good food is the ambiance. The outdoor seating is really wonderful with the flora & fauna of mid-court ground-level Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. The people are extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. Unlike Taormina where the manager is Unfriendly and Snobby which is extended through to their staff. If you want to enjoy - go to Il Lupino - If you want to overpay and have draconian made-up rules imposed upon you go to Taormina!

    By far the worst meal I’ve ever had. Zero flavor in any of our entrées and for the price it was ridiculous what we ended up with. We understand that they were understaffed however the chefs need to learn that seasoning can also be a friend!

    Food was not very flavorful and needed salt. Pizzas were ok, but not great by any means. Overall prices are on the higher side, except for the couple items on the Happy Hour menu. There are much better restaurants in the area, so we will not be coming back.

    We heard three arguments between employees where curse words were used. The service was terrible, we couldn’t get our water refilled and we had to flag people down. I would not reminded this restaurant to anyone - especially for the price.

    The food lacked flavor. The chicken piccata was overdone. The garlic bread was cold. The wine is overpriced. Servers have a friendly attitude but lack product knowledge and service behaviors that you would expect at a restaurant that positions itself as higher end. Management needs to make some changes ASAP.

    Service was mediocre very slow and no attention. The Chicken Marsala was the absolute worst I have had in my entire life and I'm 61 years old. No flavor, tasted like it was just pulled out of the freezer and was tough as leather. Worst. So sad because I had high hopes for this place.

    A change of staff alert! As they say, A server can make a meal great. A staff can also make good food mediocre. In a mere week this place has fallen from our return list. New faces all the time. A hostess that could not have seemed more bored to be at work. Staff complaining to customers about management and asking for cash tips!! Seems the ones who stayed are trying to work around the management over tipping rules. Yes, we miss our waiter - however all the flaws are now exposed. We did end up with a 'ok' waiter. But the entire scene has changed

    Terrible experience. Horrible service - we had to wait on our server just to bring a glass of wine for 45 minutes. Our server was dismissive every time we asked for help. There wasn’t even another server in sight to ask for help. Other tables were extremely frustrated as well. We eventually had to go up to the stand and ask for help. Avoid at all costs.

    Unfortunately the restaurant were way short of staff and taking longer for ordering food and food to come out. Which it I totally understand happening during the pandemic. Our server Jeremy he’s the only server for the entire restaurant and doing the awesome job to accommodate us. Overall the food were good, service were nice and we did had a good night.

    Service very slow...2 tables inside, 3 tables outside. At $30 per dish expected more for lunch service. Had to walk up to reception to pay bill. Both of us ordered Vongole Spaghetti...very dry no sauce, bread was cold. Super disappointing. We came back because our 1st visit was 5 stars...we won't be back probably.

    We have been to Il Lupino over the years it had always been inconsistent but ok. This time it was very poor quality food & the pizzas were not good. The restaurant has changed for the worst & we will not return.

    This was a good return visit with a favorite waiter. TOP NOTCH service. The food was wonderful and perfect new favorite wine suggested by Marro. ( Our next visit days later brought new staff as many walked out on the management)

    We were very excited for this dinner but it was a disappointment. It was the big dinner out for us during our 9 days i Waikiki. Our waiter was lovely and tried but was ran off his feet. Bruschetta appetizer was amazing but our meals were bland and flavourless - shockingly so. No one ever came to check in Or even offer cracked pepper. We had an 8pm reservation and we’re not sat until 820pm. Went early to sit at the bar and enjoy the ambiance and felt like we were annoying the bar tender. After we received the bill we waited 15 minutes before going to pay at the bar. Outside light bulbs are odd and give a very weird red and green aura when you look at them that flashes and dissipates. Hate to leave this review but also felt the need to heed others. It was a special dinner to celebrate my friends 60th and my 40th and it was a disappointment.

    We love this spot. Go just after the torches are lit and the evening begins. Sit outdoors. Great location near The Royal Hawaiian gardens. Great wine list and many choices on the menu.

    Wonderful evening at IlLupino which is a great old fashioned Italian restaurant complete with fairy lights in the trees and actual Italian waiters. Now if I’d just made the reservation on Open Table for 7:30 pm instead of am …. But they were very nice about it and found us a table anyway. Great Negroni and they gave us an extra cannoli!

    It was definitely an off night for the server, so much that he apologized without us speaking about it, asked that we didn’t leave a tip & even suggested he wouldn’t blame us for walking out on the check! While we left half of our normal amount suggesting it would go to the bus staff who was spot on. Too bad, the food is good but the experience was horrible.

    My mother and I dined this evening and had no complaints during our visit; the food was great and the servers were friendly. However, the problem arose after we left. My husband booked the reservation for us with his Open Table account, but did not join us on the trip. At 9pm Hawaii time, which is 2am back home, I get a call from my husband saying that the restaurant has called him 7 times and left several messages; the most recent one saying that we skipped out on our bill and they are going to press charges on us. I immediately called the restaurant and explained that we paid with cash as soon as the manager dropped off the bill to our table. Once I explained it to the server on the phone, he apologized and said he knew what happened, but didn't elaborate. I just don't understand how they think that we could have skipped out on the bill?!?!? We clearly paid it when the manager brought it to us, they could easily check the cameras to verify. We stayed and talked to our server on the way out for several minutes. And finally, we booked with Open Table which has ALL of our information! Hopefully this was just a mistake made by the restaurant and not a scam that they tried to pull on two women visiting alone. We have dined at this restaurant each time we visit Waikiki, but will never be dining here again. I don't feel comfortable going back and hope my unfortunate situation will caution you if you decide to visit or at least deter you from paying your bill with cash. They truly owe my husband an apology for calling multiple times at 2am and threating to prosecute him/us unless he calls them back. The actions and despicable behavior exhibited from the restaurant staff this evening is unacceptable and they deserve to be reprimanded for it.

    The service was extremely slow and when the food finally arrived it was under seasoned and burnt. One of the omelets ordered, arrived an hour after we ordered. The server’s excuse was that they had new cooks in the back. Not a a very good first impression.

    Great Italian food. Apollo was an excellent server and advisor as this was our first visit. We were seated inside the restaurant near the kitchen, so ambience was just okay. The outside section looked amazing.

    We were seated promptly upon our arrival. Our waiter, Jeremy took our drink and appetizer order. After about 10 minutes our appetizer arrived but no drinks. Jeremy explained that the bartender was slammed. Shortly after we finished our appetizer, the drinks arrived. We ordered dinner and a glass of wine. Dinner was Salmon Piccata and Chicken Piccata. Dinner was served but no wine. Wine arrived about halfway through my wife’s dinner. I say my wife’s dinner because my Chicken Piccata was so dry and overdone it tasted like shoe leather. It was hard to cut through and harder to chew. The Salmon was ok. As hard as Jeremy tried, the overall service was very bad only surpassed by the terrible food.
