- BBillDenver / Colorado •4 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoMenu was amazing. We had heard of Tile Fish but could not find it at other places. Katie’s had it as their fresh catch of the day. We got it corn battered and gried. Came with hush puppies, fries, onion rings, rice, and beans. Done just right. My wife and I split it, there was plenty for two! Should have started the vacation here, we would have stopped by several times. Gwen was amazing!!More infoKatie's Seafood House$$$$• Seafood• Galveston•4.7

- RRichardDallas - Fort Worth •27 reviews5.0Dined on 12 Oct 2026We were heading to Galveston for our 30th wedding anniversary and my wife and I love the history of the Gilded Age and Titanic era. We had been to the Galvez years ago and found it interesting, but somewhat dark and lacking in interior design interest. But for this occasion, I could think of no better place to have our anniversary dinner than the Galvez, so I made the reservation and requested a quiet, private booth in the Monarch room. Our reservation was for 630pm, but I wanted us to arrive early in hopes of strolling the newly renovated interiors we'd read about but never seen. What we arrived within was astounding. Immediately upon arrival under the porter cochere, we began to be transported back 115 years to Galveston's golden age and high society. We strolled down the wide, brightly lit palm concourse furnished in wicker and lit from immense Murano glass style chandeliers and sconces. We spent an hour enjoying the Hall of History and then checked in at Monarch for dinner. We were shown to our private booth as requested. Upholstered in palm fabric and high-backed, it was indeed quiet, private and comfortable. All around, pastel green and white columns and pilasters rose to the ceiling with capitals sporting a "G" for Galvez. On one wall, a huge exotic painting of palms and toucans added color and period interest. The service was impeccable. Everyone from the host to the food server to the bartender ensured our every need was met without being intrusive. Our server, Chris, was also bartender that Monday night and handled both roles perfectly. Personable and fun, he ensured everything was perfect for us. I started with the gumbo (highly recommend if you love seafood). Then had the Monarch salad that was both visually appealing and delicious. My wife had the amazing crab cakes and I had to have the steak. Everything was perfectly done and wonderful. We spent over two hours enjoying every course and finished with a complimentary creme brulee'!More infoMonarch at Grand Galvez$$$$• Seafood• Galveston•4.6
