Restaurants near Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa

We went back to Leatherby’s Café Rouge last night to celebrate our anniversary. We were married at Segerstrom over ten years ago and had our reception right here, so this place means a lot to us. It didn’t let us down. Al, the venue manager, is still there! He came by our table with that same big smile and made us feel like old friends. Seeing him again after all these years made the night. We started with the crab cake and prawns. The sauce on those was amazing. My bride had the filet, medium rare of course, with mashed potatoes and maitake mushrooms, and it was cooked perfectly. I had the sea bass with risotto and asparagus, and it was every bit as good. The wine list is great and the prices are better than you’d expect. We picked a Rutherford Hill Merlot from Napa. It went beautifully with her filet, and since I’m not a Pinot Noir or white wine guy, I was happy drinking it with my fish too. Then we split the Key lime dessert. TO DIE FOR. Connor took care of us all night and did a fantastic job. Good food is easy to find. What keeps us coming back is Al and his team, who make you feel welcome every single time you walk in. You don’t see that kind of hospitality much anymore. We WILL put this on our regular rotation, not just for special occasions or when we go to see a show. Thank you Al, Connor, and everyone there for a wonderful anniversary. It was great to see you Al as we had not run into you on prior occasions. We’ll be back for the next one, and every time we’ve got tickets to a show at Segerstrom. If you haven’t been, GO! IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!

We’ve been coming here since it first opened and it has always been the best experience. The service is top notch from the moment you pull up to valet, to the front host desk, to the restroom attendants and of course throughout my dining. Drew is our favorite server and he never disappoints. Him and the team are attentive, polite, and accommodating. The cocktails are delicious. The steaks are hands down the best I’ve ever had. Mastros is and always will be our go to place for all our celebrations.

My wife and I had a great experience. We loved the Blu Cheese Dates Tapas and the Dry Aged Ribeye. Service was phenomenal and the ambience was astounding. 10/10 would go again. Thanks Larry for the excellent service and reccomendations on the steak 🍖
