First off, the venue is worth the trip. The views are stunning at sunset. We were greeted warmly as soon as we arrived. We told them it was our anniversary and they made us feel special the whole night. Pedro, our server was friendly and fun. He and the others never let our glasses get empty and he checked on us continuously. He suggested the ribeye for two and told us not to order any more food as it would be enough. We took his word for it and we were so glad we did. First there was a tiny side salad dressed perfectly. The steak was done at the exact temp we requested. It was seasonal well and melt in your mouth. The lobster tail was large and succulent. It was cooked well and not mushy. The shrimp were slightly charred and it brought out the flavor. The dish came with chimichurri sauce and fresh guacamole and a side of asparagus. The flavors were on point for every single item on this platter. To end, Pedro suggested the coconut tubi, which we tried. It did not disappoint. They also brought us an extra chocolate moussse heart for our anniversary, which was very thoughtful. They even brought out a heart balloon and put it on my wrist. The whole setting, the staff and the food made this night unforgettable. We loved every minute of our visit and would definitely return. It is on the pricey side, but we thought it was worth every penny.

This was one of the best restaurants I’ve been too! The service and food was outstanding and the view of the ocean-stunning. We are still talking about what an incredible night we had for our last dinner in Puerto Vallarta before we fly home to Canada. We will absolutely come back and recommend!

After trying several “high-end” restaurants in Puerto Vallarta that required 30-minute taxi rides each way and ultimately were not worth the money, we finally found El Dorado Restaurant — and honestly, I don’t know why anyone would eat anywhere else in Zona Romántica. As someone with both gluten and soy allergies, dining out in Mexico has been extremely difficult to navigate. Add in a severe reaction to jalapeños, and eating out has honestly become stressful instead of enjoyable. Many restaurants we visited either didn’t fully understand food allergies or couldn’t clearly communicate ingredients due to language barriers. El Dorado was completely different. Not only do they clearly offer gluten-free options on the menu, but they truly take allergies seriously. The chefs were always willing to customize dishes, answer questions, and make sure my food was safe. Every waiter we interacted with spoke excellent English, which made communication easy and allowed me to finally relax and enjoy my meals without fear of getting sick. And beyond the allergy accommodations — the food itself was phenomenal. Truly a 10/10. Beautiful presentation, incredible flavor combinations, high-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked vegetables and proteins… every detail was exceptional. The service was equally outstanding. Our waiter (two of the three nights we dined there) was absolutely amazing. Once we found El Dorado, we canceled every other reservation we had made and came back here instead. The ambiance is also unforgettable. One evening we sat outside right on the beach, listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze while enjoying one of the best meals of our trip. For anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta — especially if you have food allergies — I cannot recommend El Dorado enough. This restaurant turned what had been a stressful dining experience into one of the highlights of our vacation.
