Way back in 1975, the Sail Loft lit the fire for Steve Silverstein, who went on to open nearly 40 restaurants. Located in the quintessential seaside village of Padanaram, it was the neighborhood place where you could get a good (strong) drink, chef prepared comfort food and relax in a convivial atmosphere with familiar faces. The Sail Loft was everyone’s favorite place; it was a hangout where some came for food and others for drink.When the Sail Loft became available in 2021, Steve jumped on the opportunity to take the wheel. Steve and his wife Judy transformed the Sail Loft into an elevated neighborhood restaurant with a distinct updated boatyard feel. The spot is nautical with a chef-driven yet approachable menu, a deep selection of spirts and an intriguing wine list. As with all of Silverstein’s places, while the food, drink and design are always top-notch, it is the warm hospitality that keeps ‘em coming back.

    We had an excellent experience at the Black Whale recently. We were seated in the outdoor space which was very festive and fun with a great view of the harbor. We had the raw seafood starter and a variety of mostly seafood entrees (there were four of us). Everything was delicious - great flavor, nice presentation and very fresh. The cocktails and shared carrot cake (GF!) were also all delicious. Our server, Alex, was attentive, personable and a great communicator - the restaurant was very busy but he managed to make us feel like we were his only customers. We’ve been to the Black Whale 3-4 times now and it never disappoints, however our recent dinner was exceptionally good

    The food at this restaurant keeps getting better. I had the steamers and my husband had Chicken Piccata. The Chef switched out the sauces to accommodate my husband's dietary needs and added a sauce often used on the haddock. It was outstanding as was the unique scallion fennel broth on the shellfish. Our only disappointment was that we could no longer bring our little dog with us to eat on the deck. Service was excellent as always. Keep up the great work. Your chef is truly a huge improvement.

    Farm and Coast has revamped the restaurant in the store with a wonderful upgrade. The bar is beautiful and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The drinks menu is creative and we had 2 fruity summer alcoholic beverages. I had the beet and burratta salad with grilled chicken and the husband had the seared scallops with polenta and shaved salad - both were excellent. We skipped dessert to walk next door to the ice cream shop - please consider a slight upgrade to the desserts to match the quality of the rest of the menu. We will be back!
