Small Wonder opens its new cellar door and restaurant in Tasmania's Tamar Valley this September, led by Head Chef Konstantin Putkin, formerly of the once Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows (London) and hatted Wintergarden Restaurant (Blue Mountains). The menu moves with the seasons, shaped by relationships with local producers including Springfield Deer Farm, Seven Springs Farm and Wattle Hill Olives. Expect relaxed, generous sharing plates built around Tasmania's best produce at its peak. Small Wonder wines are poured by the glass alongside imported wines and Tasmanian spirits. The space reflects its surrounds, with Tasmanian bluestone, Quartzite stone, timber, and dappled glass, plus artworks by Tasmanian artists Stephen Bond, Alicia King, and Paul Snell. Set on Small Wonder's certified organic vineyard, the venue continues the winery's sustainability practices, from solar power to near-elimination of single-use plastics in the kitchen.     A menu and dishes that should please the fussiest of diners and a great wine list, with some Italian varietals. The service is spot on and even though there were just the two of us the buzzing atmosphere on a busy Saturday evening was fine. We were seated away from some bigger group tables and could hold a conversation without having to shout. Great food, wine and service. Not our first visit, not our last.

    We had a wonderful time at Small Wonder Winery. The food is delicious and great value for money. The service is excellent. The winery itself is beautiful and the restaurant is stunning, an excellent place to sit with friends, family or work colleagues and enjoy a wonderful lunch.

    The weather wasn’t great but we still enjoyed our family meal outdoors as we had an umbrella and it allowed us to enjoy the view and conversation easily. The food was delicious and very well presented. There was a reasonable choice. Very enjoyable. We’ll certainly be back when we return to Devonport.
