The Rosa shows that sometimes taking something old and making it new again can come out quite well. The founder opened the family-style Italian gem in 1927 using the family home to do it. For 55 years Ralph Rosa fought all odds, including the Great Depression and Prohibition, and continued to provide Portsmouth great Italian classics. For the past 30+ years, The Rosa has continued under new ownership that remodeled and updated, but kept plenty of familiar dishes. Notable menu items include the house-made herb gnocchi with slow braised espresso pork shoulder and lasagna Bolognese.     We enjoyed our meal so much we decided to return a second night for another bite at the bar! On both occasions our service was perfect: casual but attentive, very knowledgeable and friendly. All of the dishes we ordered were spot on; you cannot go wrong with the oysters here. We particularly loved the Shrimp Pimento as a starter. Great vibe and good beer selection to compliment the menu. Enjoy!

    Wow! What a great place to dine. Was our first time and we will most definitely return. The service was great, the food was amazing and the staff was friendly and professional. Definitely recommend the calamari and lobster spaghetti.

    Really enjoyed our meal at the Puddle Dock in Portsmouth. Food, drinks and service were all excellent. We especially enjoyed the chowder, and trout dishes. Special mention for the cinnamon rum bread pudding - may be the best we've ever had. Would love to come back next time we're in the area.
