Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

So fun! I really enjoyed being able to try a wine that was from Armenia and they had other regional wines that looked interesting. The food was a little pricey but everything was delicious. We got an order of Turkish delight which is homemade and completely different than what I had had from a box in a Mediterranean deli. It was so good that we got an extra order to share with some guests the next day. Will definitely be going back!

our new steak house in Williamsburg. A bit pricey but perfect preparation and large portions. A couple of unique items (caramel pecan brie appetizer). Seafood done right: scallops were perfectly done and crab cake was wonderful. Steak was cooked as ordered, tender and delicious. Loved the cinnamon butter with the baked sweet potato. Overall a great meal.

what a delightful treat, to find excellent quality, freshly-prepared, actually-cuban cuban food in williamsburg, va! so many cuban restaurants in the states outside of south florida serve food that is cuban only in their imaginations, but k'bola is legit. this group of family and friends from camaguey, cuba are clearly dedicated to bringing a slice of the cuban culinary world to the williamsburd community, and they are doing a fantastic job! let's support locally-owned businesses that fill a gap in our restaurant scene - thank you k'bola!
