Two decades before Orchard opened in Verona, Deirdre Birmingham and John Biondi began work on a farm in the Driftless Area planting trees that, mostly, did not exist in this country.16,000 apple trees. Not eating apples. English and French cider varieties, certified organic. After20 years of improving drinks made from these apples, they built Orchard.Now drinks at Orchard trace back to the orchard in Mineral Point. The kitchen runs with the same patience as the farm. Chef Ian sources from the grower network Deirdre and John built before the restaurant.Friday fish fry is a weekly ritual. Brick-oven pizzas rotate seasonally. Saturday and Sunday brunch draws a crowd that lingers longer than planned. The patio fills early on warm evenings and is the best sunset seat in Verona.     Had a wonderful time during our first visit at the Schoolhouse. We had reservations at 7 and showed up early and were still sat promptly. Host was very accommodating and checked on us at the end of our meal. Our waiter was Forest and he was excellent! My Partner and I had two glasses of wine, the Brie en croute as an appetizer and then the Lamb Ragu Papperdelle, scallops and Lobster Florentine. The scallops were on a bed of risotto that needed a touch of salt, as did my couscous in the Lobster Florentine. The pasta was great, light sauce but still hearty. Overall, we would definitely come back!

    This was our first time there and we were quite pleased with the food and service especially on a busy Friday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The food was very good (pizzas and paninis) and the drinks were very reasonable and good. I will definitely go there more often.
