I’m in DC for work and traveling alone, so I like to indulge in the vast variety of cuisine that makes this amazing city. I love Spanish food (not to be confused with Latino or Hispanic food from the Latin American countries) and found great reviews for Bodega, so I decided to try. And before you ask why I didn’t go to Patria or Jaleo or any of José Andrés’ restaurants I only have this to say: no matter how decorated the chef, I don’t do chef culture. Wow. Bodega is a genuine gem. I had the tortilla española, the chicken croquetas, the creamy mushroom rice that is similar to risotto (it seems to be Arborio rice) sans the crunchiness. I devoured the lamb chops and ended the meal with crema catalana (think crème brûlée with a name in Spanish; can’t tell them apart), a glass of sparkling roaé cava that was chilled to perfection, complex and rich), a fine glass of 8 year port, and a wonderful espresso. Pricy at $101 for all of this before tip, but that’s DC for you. Don’t miss out on Bodega, its quaint decor, friendly service (lots of Spanish speakers!) and delectable, genuinely Spanish food. Salud!

Celebrated a 40th birthday with a friend and The Four Seasons' touches were quickly evident. Not only was she wished a happy birthday upon arrival at the host stand but also by our lovely waitress. There was a card, too, signed by the staff members wishing her happy bday...she loved it. Service was friendly, professional and well-paced; other service members whisked away plates or brought delicious bread. Every request (from lime for sparkling water to an extra whatever) was quickly granted. We ordered the 8 oz filets and they were perfectly cooked; well-seasoned, if a touch salty (but we both liked the salt level). Ordered the absolutely delicious truffled mac and cheese, creamed spinach as sides; for cocktails, she loved her mezcal based one (something Jalisco?) and I thought my Boulevardier was perfect. For dessert, we shared the beignets and it was quite the treat: 5-6 beignets and three pots of naughtiness: creme brulee, pot de creme chocolate and another...all very good and not overly sweet. Size was larger than we thought, so it can be easily shared. Ambience was certainly modern and comfy, but it's a hotel restaurant, so there is only so much originality. Noise level was low. Overall, the experience exceeded even my high expectations and I'd go again tomorrow. Pricey, yes, but the value was evident in the experience and the small details.

Absolutely the best meal of my life. The service was first class. Every single staff member was able to explain the dish and how the chef recommend we eat it. It was divine. I will definitely be back to try my favorite dishes again, as well as the ones I didn't get to try. I went to Gordon Ramey's restaurant and this was by far better. Nobu knows how to create a first class experience from the host desk to the servers walking around with a smile. Excellent 5 star restaurant.
