"Stella 34 is located within Macy's but in its own separate area. There are lovely views of Herald Square and the ambiance is well lit and sophisticated. Conversation is very possible as the noise level is moderate and tables are fairly well spaced. The menu is somewhat limited: some small plates, pastas and a few fish and chicken dishes. We had a mushroom pasta and split the branzino. Everything was very well prepared. They specialize in gelato and it was delicious. The white wines by the glass were only fair but moderately priced. Service was pleasant but somewhat erratic. There was a delay between our seating and the arrival of the waitress. You are certainly not rushed. I would recommend Stella for a very good meal in a dining wasteland."See more

"I've dined at many steakhouses in NYC and honestly never heard of Statler Grill and only tried it because of a living social deal. I was very pleasantly surprised by the experience. Our waiter was very attentive and totally hooked us up when choosing the wine to go with our dinner. The food was about as good as you would get at many top steakhouses so I would definitely go back there to eat. It has a rather large bar area but I'm sure that is to accomodate nights when Madison Square Garden is rocking and there are alot of drinkers around."See more

"Location, location, location. This is all about being on a rooftop in NYC with a breathtaking up-close view of the Empire State building, Macy's, and other neighboring buildings. The drinks and food are fine. The crowd is mixed, tourists, and after-work, not particularly chic or hip but it was 7PM on Thursday; I am sure it is different at midnight. Entrance to Lobby is not pretty, but you pass into the elevator quickly. Excellent choice for a drink with a view in NYC, something different."See more

"The ambiance is nice. Its a large open space with big tables. Between fancy and casual so you would fit in in jeans or a cocktail dress. It is cheap for being in NYC. The most expensive meal is only $29. We shared few small plates. Im so happy we did because we got to try a bunch of different things- all of which were fantastic. The beet salad is phenomenal, the ceasar salad was good- nothing exceptional. The meatballs were amazing. Each order comes with 2 baseball-sized meatballs- definitely enough to split between 2-4 people. The gnocchi alla romano was unlike any gnocchi I have ever had. Large half-moon shaped, little crispy on the outside. The truffle sauce was thick and creamy and delicious! I cant wait to go back again!"See more

We were given just enough time to relax, enjoy our wine and appetizers before ordering our main course. The short ribs with sweet potato hash and baby spinach was the most delicious combination. This was followed by fabulous desserts, including homemade donuts with ice cream. Everything was made to perfection!"See more

"We had steaks for dinner and seafood for appetizers - I'd say skip the seafood, the real gem at this place is their beef. It does have a raw bar so I expected the seafood to be a little better. Dinner was great - if you order steak I would recommend the bacon brussels sprouts as they were out of this world good and went really well with the steak. There was a game on while we were there (Superbowl final play off) so it was VERY fun and energetic. This was a sunday of a long weekend (MLK) and the place was busy but not packed and our service was exceptional - they were attentive and took care of everything. I'd definitely will eat here again while staying in this part of NYC, which is a little starved for good sit down restaurants"See more

"We selected Petit Poulet since we wanted some French cuisine at a reasonable price. Within walking distance from Manhattan Mid-town. The tall buildings causes GPS on phone to get lost but location was easy to find. Decor was just some simple tables but we were greeted warmly. Water comes in bottle similar to Europe (albeit tap water). Menu was a little limited but had daily specials. Weekend was Ribeye, my other family members had the scallop, and vegetable pasta. I had eaten Ribeye at Angus Club earlier and this Ribeye was just at good at half the price with similar portion. The gratin potatoes were also very tasty. Good food at decent price (for NYC)."See more

"Niles NYC is by far the classiest restaurant in the area around Madison Sq. Garden. In a neighborhood of casual dining, sports pubs and steakhouses, Niles is always our choice for a drink and meal before going to an event. Great menu selections, friendly service, and sleek environment always combine for a great experience here. A bonus: if attending a concert at MSG you can count on hearing the music of the artist while dining; it's a great mood setter. This time we had and can recommend the Wedge and shaved Brussels sprouts salads and main courses of Chilean Sea Bass and the Filet Mignon au poivre. All were superb. We have never been disappointed here."See more

"My husband and I decided to take advantage of NYC Restaurant Week to try a new Korean restaurant, and Gaonnuri was our choice. The Restaurant Week menu had interesting choices, so we started with the glass noodles and mushroom appetizers. Mushrooms were okay, but the star of the show were the glass noodles. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, the dish was a great way to start our meal. As entrees, we got the bulgogi and galbi. Bulgogi was good and well-cooked, but a little under seasoned and disappointingly mild. Galbi was fantastic - perfectly seasoned and cooked, and among the best that we have had anywhere. We got scallion and sesame romaine salads, both of which were okay. We also got the traditional side dishes which were good, especially the pickled radishes. The service was attentive and through, and he view was spectacular. We will be back for the galbi and the view."See more

"Keens is truly one of a kind. The history, ambiance and most of all, the fantastic meals, really make this place a must in Manhattan. Two of us ordered the porterhouse for 2 and the other person ordered the T-bone steak. We all agreed that the portion size, the flavor, the tenderness and the overall presentation made this one our most memorable meals ever! We ate in the Teddy Roosevelt dining room, visited the Lincoln Dining Room and strolled around the rest of the place. There is history everywhere, on the walls and the ceiling! You must try this place if you want one of the best meals in New York City! Bring lots of $$$ though 'coz it isn't cheap by any means. We sat next to some gentlemen who eat there often and they said it even beats Peter Lugar by a long shot! And that's from locals! You won't be sorry, go there and soak it all in!"See more

Steakhouse | Midtown West,

"We had eaten here once before, while the entrance was under scaffolding. The outside is now complete and nice, and the location of being right under Madison Square Garden made this the perfect spot for supper prior to seeing Billy Joel. We started off with salads, my wife with the iceberg wedge and I with a Caesar salad. Both were very tasty and the portion size was more than ample. We each chose the petit filet for our entree and they were cooked properly and thoroughly. Tasty, and the accompanying sauces enhanced the flavor even more. A side of brussel sprouts was shared, and they were bit too chewy for our taste. We finished off our meal with ice cream (my wife) and cheesecake (it was fine, but a replacement for my originally-chosen Key Lime pie which was not available). Our server, Loren, was attentive but not obnoxiously so. We arrived at 5:15 p.m., which, while early for the 8:00 p.m. show, got us in and out in a fair time and still gave us time to walk a block north to look in Macy's for a bit. Also arriving that early gave us a quiet dining experience at the start, which got louder as the more-prime dining time arrived. The price was, we felt, a bit on the steep side (with one glass of wine and tax, the total bill was $173.11); on the other hand, by being right at the Garden prior to show time we didn't have to worry about travel from a more-distant location."See more

Although this place is really an Irish pub and there were a lot of people there to watch the football game they did have some nice quiet tables on the second floor. I was starting to think that NYC pizza was something I'm just not crazy about, but Lazzara's turned me around. It's thin crust, but also delicate (rather than burnt to a crisp and rock hard like other places). There's a crunch, but was still great. Service was nice. Wasn't too busy. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance through open table, and could not get my preferred time of 6:30, so booked 6:00. We were running late, so called to push back our reservation and were told we could be seated at 6:30. When we walked in, we were expecting a packed restaurant, so were shocked to see it less than 1/4 full. Not sure why open table didn't show availability. We were seated upstairs, and ordered a selection of small plates and were very pleased with the food. The duck tacos and crab cakes were our favorites. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was delicious. The service was very attentive, and our bill ended up being less than $100, which is very rare in NYC. We'll definitely be back!"See more
