Mushrooms are the heart of what we do at the Joel Palmer House. We have always endeavored to obtain seasonal and local ingredients and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables, some of which come from our own culinary garden. We are frequently inspired by ingredients found in the cuisines of France, China, Thailand, Poland and India, so we call our cooking "freestyle." Our dishes pair well the celebrated wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Our extensive, Oregon-focused wine list has been awarded the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. Of special note, The Joel Palmer House ranks as one of Oregon's finest historic homes and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Oregon Historic Register. Built in 1857, the house is Dayton's oldest standing structure. When weather permits, guests can enjoy their dinner on our outdoor patio, soaking in the last rays of sunshine in the heart of Oregon Wine Country.

    This place never fails to amaze. Food is absolutely delicious and the staff and atmosphere are great. We celebrated my husband's bday last evening. Justin was our server. He's been our server before abd as always he was amazing. Thanks to Justin for providing us a fabulous dining experience.

    I was so happy to find an authentic Italian eatery with rave reviews of their gluten free options because that’s impossible to find. Loved our meal! Excellent service without being pushy. The beet salad and prosciutto salads were phenomenal. The GF cacio pasta was Devine - so creamy and you would never have known the noddles were GF. My husband had the short ribs and was very pleased. I kept stealing bites of his delicious smoked potatoes. Best gimlet I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!

    All of the wines we tasted were delicious and very well balanced. They paired very well with the snacks we ordered. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. One of my favorite wineries.
