We really enjoyed our evening at The Courtyard, and the welcome, the food and the service were all excellent - and also very good value The attractive building is new (purpose built) and has some interesting quirky features; there is a good sized car park and it is also on a regular bus route to & from Morpeth . . . My own seat was slightly squashed in, but that did not detract from our enjoyment. I really appreciated being able to choose from a selection of small plates, rather than a daunting "main course" which would have been far too big for me to finish. All the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious - sadly we had no space left for dessert . . . We also appreciated the choice of no-alcohol drinks, including a sparkling wine, We are already planning our next visit. Thank you so much to ALL the staff, both front of house and those in the kitchen!

We always enjoy our meals at the Black Bull and feel it's a pity more people don't use this lovely pub more often for eating. We brought along our friends from USA who were craving good old-fashioned English food and the Black Bull delivered at such great value for money. I am vegetarian - always a challenge to find something I like, but here, their Mushroom Pie was absolutely lovely! The staff are always friendly, non-intrusive and endearingly self-mocking at times and the Manager is very helpful and likeable. My advice would be - don't always patronise the "posher" places in Morpeth - try out this little gem. Use it to avoid risking losing it.
