We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.*Last seating 1 hour before close*

We decided to go to Murphy’s in Virginia Highlands since it is rated as the best brunch in Atlanta. Murphy’s did not disappoint! The bread service, our entrees, the drinks were all delicious! The service was a bit slow, however, the restaurant was quite busy! We will definitely go back again! Murphy’s does have a great outdoor dining area as well as great indoor dining rooms. I will ask for a more private table on my next visit. Reservations highly recommended!

We live in Orlando and had a chance to visit Poor Calvin’s once before. When we planned to drive to North Carolina on vacation, I made sure we took the route through Atlanta so we could spend the eat there again! 7 hours later and almost thwarted by traffic (because Atlanta) we made it just in time. Again, it did not disappoint. The cocktails are out of this world, the flavors are delicious and creative and absolute perfection, and the service is friendly and attentive. I could not recommend this place more. If I lived in Atlanta, I would be there every week.

Some of the best fried calamari we've had a long time; huge plate of it. The chile-rubbed tenderloin medallions and the veal & chorizo meatloaf were both delicious, and way more than we could eat. Disappointed with the limited bourbon selection, but I imagine most patrons don't come for whiskey but rather to enjoy the nice wine selection, several types of Margaritas, and to sample from the impressive list of tequilas. Service was excellent. Casual atmosphere felt like we were in a family-run, neighborhood restaurant in Santa Fe — a town we know and love. Glad to finally try Agave. Will definitely return—and plan for Maragritas. 🌞

Dined at Beetlecat for my birthday and it was everything I wished for and more! Got there with just minutes left of oyster HH (4-5 pm) and my friend and I split an order of 8 on the half shell (4 dif kinds, $1.50 each HH price [regularly $4/ ea]) I loved the cherry mignonette! For second course we had the mussels which were to die for! The creamy, savory broth was so delicious we got an extra order of bread to soak it up every last drop. Third course we split an order of the chowder (one order is $18 but enough to share and they will split into individual mugs, so nice!) to be honest, the chowder was less clam (there were two clams in shell in the chowder) and more like a baked potato soup. It was good, but compared to the rest of the meal it was my least favorite. Then, the grand finale, the lobster roll 😍 Giant chunks of claw meat with a dollop of mayo on a butter-toasted brioche bun. It was absolutely the star of the show!! Came with a side of extra crispy fries which I definitely didn’t need, but definitely ate anyway. I also enjoyed the royal Hawaiian gin based cocktail. It was good, but I would not drink more than one because it was very sugary. Our server was quick and attentive. The ambiance was nice (5 pm on a Monday, not too many people but not completely dead.) If I could make a recommendation it would be to put a tint or shade on the windows. While we enjoyed the natural light, it was very warm and I felt like I was in a greenhouse by the end. Overall 10/10 experience. Highly recommend for seafood lovers like me!
