The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check.     A superb dining experience! We really enjoyed the calm ambience, the thoughtful, personalized welcome for our Anniversary and the delicious food. My wife says her steak was the best she's ever had. My crispy duck and trimmings were delicious. And thanks for the complementary anniversary dessert we shared. We'll be back!

    My wife and I chose to celebrate our anniversary at the Lexington, and I'm very pleased that we did. I mentioned the anniversary aspect when reserving the table, and this detail appears to have been noted in our reservation. We were welcomed warmly, attended with attention and care by the staff and enjoyed one the great meals of my life. The food was truly remarkable. We split a salad, each had an entree, and split two sides - one side probably would have been sufficient. I had the Meatloaf Wellington, and my wife had the Steak Diane. Spectacular dishes both. It is definitely an expensive proposition, so bear that in mind, but if you're going to opt for a restaurant experience in that upper range, the Lexington is a stellar example.
