"A mere stone's throw away from Penn Station, Brother Jimmy's was everything I could have asked for in regards to a pre-event meal. To begin, the place is decked out spectacularly; it really gives off the feel of a sports bar, but maintains a down-home feel with its wood floors and nostalgic chotchkies on the wall. And did I mention that the food is absolutely DYNAMITE?! My group split the big nacho platter, which was awesome. My ribs with a side of mac&cheese and fries was delicious, and my friends' brisket was awesome as well. Our glasses were never anything short of full, as the attentive staff made sure we were well-hydrated for our plentiful feast. Visit Brother Jimmy's if you're going to an event at MSG; You won't regret it"See More

"Lugo's location, around the corner from Penn Station, makes it ideal if you are meeting someone who has arrived on Amtrak and has luggage. It seems to be well known, probably by people who work in the Penn Plaza vicinity. The menu is fine and varied, and I enjoyed my orichiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. My lunch date ate every bite of her spinach ravioli, and devoured most of her apple crostata for dessert. Lugo provides a pitcher of ice water on the table, a nice touch for those who like to keep hydrated. We never had to look for the waiter; he always appeared when needed. What isn't so great is the noise level. We shouted at each other for most of the meal."See More

"Picked restaurant for its location near Penn Station. We're from NJ, and our friends from LI, so we selected the spot simply on its proximity to the train station. Prix Fixe had a very nice selection, and reasonable, even with the $6 supplement for fish (2 of us had that) and the $8 for the steak (1 of us). Only thing that I think might make for a better meal would be a broader wine selection, with the availability of bottles. For a restaurant associated with a hotel, better than most."See More

French | Chelsea,

"Happy to find a place near Penn Station with a different menu. We had a lovely glass of wine and the tapas plate, which was very nice, and then ordered the beet salad, risotto, and kebab. Service was leisurely -- fortunately we had a lot of time before our train. A salad and the risotto arrived, but it was nicoise instead of beet, and they took both plates away. A beet salad eventually arrived (one third the size of the nicoise -- odd, not really enough to share), along with the same dish of risotto, now barely lukewarm, followed by the kebab. All were tasty, but the risotto would have been even better hot!"See More

"Usually when I take my business associates out for steak I go to a more centrally located restaurant. However, I needed to stay near Penn Station and choose Jacks 9th Ave location. Great surprise. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and very efficient. The wine selection was very good except the bottles were marked up over 100%."See More

"I had a quick trip via Penn Station and sought a place where I could meet my son, a college student, during a two-hour layover. He's over 21, so we both enjoyed cocktails and a light dinner. The bar is upbeat with expert bartenders who fixed me a ferocious French Martini; and for my son, a Bitter Lady, a concoction of his own design featuring Vodka, St. Germaine, and Triple Sec. For dinner, he chose the Prosciutto Pizza which he reported as being very tasty. I enjoyed the Scallop Appetizer with Basil Oil drizzle. Diners and bar sippers all seemed to enjoy the atmosphere, as did we."See More

"A welcome addition near Penn station, where very few options exist. Food was very good and fish was expertly prepared. Waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Managers did roam around attending to needs, however, as the night went on, it was harder to get someone's attention for the check. Noise level was very loud."See More

"Bar with a pretty decent menu. Convenient location right by Penn Station. Went on a Tuesday night - It was lively but not so loud that I had to shout across the table. The spinach artichoke dip was PHENOMENAL - probably the best I've ever had. My burger was good, cooked to my liking. Seating was a little cramped. It was pretty good overall."See More

Varied menu, requested Thai spicy and it was awesome. Excellent happy hour deals until 8PM. Excited to find this gem in the Penn Station area."See More

"Great dinners, cocktails and desserts at reasonable prices in Midtown. Easy walking distance to Penn Station. Only complaint is wait and bar staff should be more knowledgeable about the beers they have on tap. We've been here twice in the last three months and both times they had Dogfish Head beer on tap but when asked "which" Dogfish Head the answer was the IPA. Dogfish makes five IPAs but they had no idea which one it was. Sorry we are beer geeks. Other than that a near perfect dining experience."See More
