Hostaria OsottoOsopra was born from a fortuitous meeting, between the streets of Venice.With a coffee and a chat, the dream of opening a restaurant with friends seemed to really take shape for the first time.In August 2017, those that were initially only ideas are transformed into reality, within the walls of a former pub in Calle San Pantalon, a stone's throw from Campo Santa Margherita.It would not make sense to open yet another tourist place in Venice, only to then get confused among the many restaurants around the city.No, Hostaria OsottoOsopra was supposed to be something different. It had to be a place to feel at home, where eating well in Venice became possible at a reasonable price and where the service, always in the hand but always elegant, made me want to come back.At the opening, Hosteria OsottoOsopra looked like this: with the atmosphere of a typical Venetian hostaria, but from the almost gourmet kitchen.

On May 13, 1931, Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice. Over the years, Harry's Bar has become the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings, and queens would meet. Among them were: Barbara Hutton, Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Giancarlo Menotti, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joe DiMaggio, Truman Capote, and Ernest Hemingway. The keys to the success of this small bar were: service, freedom, and lack of imposition.Throughout its 93-year history, Harry's Bar has witnessed the 20th century in Venice.     We had a lovely dinner here on our first night in Venice. The owner is a generous and personable man! The servings were large and very affordable. We even got a double limoncello with our check!

    The restaurant is right on the canal and has a very Italian contemporary style. We made reservations but there is ample space if you are waiting for a table at the bar. The wine list and selection was excellent along with the suggestions from Francesca the sommelier. Our wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. The manager came over several times to explain the menu pairings and to ensure our overall satisfaction. The service was what you would expect at a fine dining establishment in Venice, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Our courses were presented in style and explained in great detail. I was happy to hear the multilingual (our waiter spoke at least 4 languages) staff. Our first experience at this establishment and It will not be forgotten. Bravo Mr Marco and staff
