Outstanding pub food. Great service. I had the fish and chips and the fish was perfectly cooked.

We were a party of three and all ordered differently. The food was delicious but a little more sauce/gravy would have been nice for all the mains. The red cabbage served with the game pie was too acidic. However, we all had a lovely time and will return.

The Townhouse never disappoints and today was exceptional with the atmosphere kicking off the Christmas festivities . Lunch was beautiful and presentation first class . Staff always welcoming although it was very busy . We will be back very soon .

A lovely warm welcome and a birthday card from the staff sitting on our table. The Christmas menu was varied and interesting but the standout plate for me had to be the herb crusted trout.Absolutely delicious and so beautifully orchestrated in terms of flavours, textures and presentation. On the down side the ice cream( cinnamon?) on my apple and almond crumble was very odd.Gluey and unpalatable with little to recommend it. More almond in the crumble would have been nice too. The fudge was “candy” like , sugary and grainy but I was still very impressed, as I usually am, with the experience that is Blackfriars.

Great breakfast for the price and fab service too - always reliable if not spectacular
