LaSalle Grill, a modern American Bistro featuring steaks and chops cooked over a live hardwood fire, is born of the dream of experienced restaurateur Mark McDonnell. Like the restaurant’s namesake, noted French explorer, Robert de LaSalle, McDonnell set out to explore the uncharted waters of downtown South Bend, Indiana. In April of 1991, McDonnell opened a lively and exciting restaurant unlike any other in the area.

LaSalle Grill is committed to providing guests with excellent service, great atmosphere, an award-winning wine list and, most importantly, delicious cuisine that is artfully and dramatically presented.

We were celebrating our Anniversary so we noted that when we made the reservation. On our menus they had personalized a congratulatory message to us as well as a hand written note card from the staff. Food snd service were fantastic!

We visited during Restaurant Week and to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They placed a special menu and a card out for him and put candles in his dessert, all of which were very nice touches and not anything we had expected. I had the center cut filet which was perfectly cooked and he had the swordfish which was excellent as well. The food was fantastic and service was great. We could not have asked for anything more.

I took my wife there for her 60th birthday. This location was highly recommended. The food was wonderful, but service was marginal. It was a Saturday evening and with a group of ten is was painfully slow service in between each course. The waitress was either unable to communicate what the delay was and appeared very anxious. I would not recommend this location for larger groups. Perhaps this was an exception, but what could have been a wonderful experience was soured by mediocre service and timeliness.

The food and service are always first rate here. They are consistently creative with both the food and the spirits on offer, and take extra steps to make your experience special. They wrote us a card, and put our names at the top of the menu for our 20th anniversary. Small touches like that keep us coming back.
