Originally the location of Artisan Bento, Hachi now focuses its attention on ramen - some might say the best ramen in San Diego! The restaurant takes up a small, cozy space in Bankers Hill and, though it gets crowded, that doesn’t stop anyone from waiting in line for this delicious noodle soup. Try the Cheezu ramen for a real flavorful experience. It’s a tonkotsu broth with American cheese melted right on top of thick noodles, sweet corn, mizuna greens, scallions and freshly grated Parmesan to top it all off.

For diners who want sushi along with other Japanese specialties, head to Sushi Ota in Mission Bay. Open since 1990, it’s one of the city’s old standbys when it comes to quality Japanese food. It’s a casual yet elegant dining spot that showcases the flavors of fresh fish in traditional Japanese preparations. Try one of the Chirashi dishes of fresh fish along with appetizers like tempura, edamame and teriyaki for a filling, flavorful meal.
