The Well is a contemporary American restaurant and bar. The name of the restaurant has an interesting double meaning. First of all, The Well is located below street level, and diners must descend a set of stairs to get to the restaurant itself. Second, "the well" is a bar term for the base level of alcohol provided. Here, however, the bar is so well-stocked that even the well liquors are of a high quality. The Well's menu reflects modern American tastes. Starters include fried popcorn shrimp, beer-battered onion rings, spinach and artichoke dip and fried pickles, among other things. Entrée options include plates like the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, crab cakes, fish and chips, chicken parmesan and the adventurous burger that is topped with bacon, pepper jack cheese, peanut butter, tomato, lettuce, pickles and thousand island dressing. The Well also has a rotating dessert diners can ask about.
