Maze Gordon Ramsay Ratings and Reviews

Maze was an outstanding experience. The food is both delicious and creative. What I loved is you can get a wonderful wine by the glass and small plates of food...so it is possible to order just the quantity you want. The recommendation of the restaurant is to share everything which is nice too, giving each person the chance to taste more things. I would do one thing differently from what was suggested however. My husband and I ordered 4 small plates to begin. All of them were cold, so it didn't matter that they came at once. But then we ordered 3 larger hot dishes and they also all came at once. I would have preferred then one at a time so we could have eaten everything when it was hot. The lamb chops are fabulous, the duck breast and leg amazingly good, and the pork chop also delicious. I'd like to return and try some of the other things. Warning - this place is very, very expensive.

I returned to this restaurant after 10 years and the food was disappointing and not as good as my first experience. The service was good if a little slow. The presentation of the food wasn't great either. I won't be going back. It may be a Gordon Ramsay restaurant but he needs to keep his finger on the pulse.

My mother and I have visited Maze roughly once a month for lunch on a Saturday for the past four years. The staff have always been amazing, Orhan the Restaurant Manager is excellent, and along with his team provide a very special experience. Yesterday we tried the new menu which has been created by their Head Chef Carlos Martinez. It is a different concept than previously served, but tasted wonderful with beautiful presentation. It comprises of eight small dishes and one main course and dessert to share for £32.50. I would really recommend a visit.

Mr. Ramsay should close his own place, and do some serious work there, before his brand and reputation is down the drain.

Sorry just too much attitude. If you are not interesting in spending all out, they really don't want you. Frankly, no table cloths, high price and much, much to much attitude.

We have visited the Maze a few times before so we knew what to expect - very, very tasty food. However, there was one thing this time that the two of us could not understand - having opted for sharing plates menu we expected the plates to have even items on each plate so that neither of us was shortchanged on any of the dishes. And most of them were, apart from the fish and the beef dishes. That said I would highly recommend the eight courses sharing menu - good value for money and a variety of lovely tastes. We would like to thank all the staff for a very pleasant lunch.

This visit (my second time around), I had the Chef's Menu again. It had been updated, I guess both because of season as well as new head chef. But I have to say that compared to the first Chef's menu I had, this one was not on par. No amuse-bouche and no sorbet (or similar) between the two mains was indicative of lower value-for-money. The foie gras saw a complete revamp as a dish for the worse. The foie gras I had at my first visit was the best foie gras I have had, and one of the best dishes I have ever had. The best dish by far this time around was the mandaring/chocolate dessert, which was brilliantly composed, with the cumbrian beef tataki a close runner up. The scallop ceviche, the carabineros and the mint lamb was nothing special at all; good but not near the greatness of a Michelin star. I recommend Maze, but given the experience I had the first time around, this was a bit disappointing...

We felt really treated unfairly. We went for a set menu advertised on OpenTable.
Before going to the restaurant I called to ask wether they had alternatives without gluten since one person in the party is celiac and they said it was totally fine.
At the restaurant though, they told us that it actually was a problem as the menu was a sharing menu and she couldn't share most of the dishes. So they ended up only serving 6 out of 8 plates to the other people in the party (which was totally unfair) and prepared something separate for our friend.
As for the place itself I found it a bit pretentious and without the quality food you can get in similarly priced restaurants. The food wasn't bad by any standard but not something you would remember either.
In the small plates we had some croquetas, some fried chicken and some sushi. None of which seemed better than the similar plates you could get at any spanish, japanese or fried chicken restaurants.
The mains we got were a risotto (good but the taste of butter was way too strong) and some pork (a bit dry and not very special by any means).
The desserts were simply a joke.

Ambience is noisy. Food is good and fresh, but very small quantity. Service is great. Therefore, in terms of value, it is just fair.
8 small plates means as the words suggest. Don't feel i have eaten anything. One main course to share is a very bad idea.

A truly excellent night out. The service was superb and we were made to feel very special -we were blown away by the menu -fabulous ( we had the January tasting offer). Great background music and ambiance as well.

Checked out the famed Gordon Ramsay Maze restaurant and unfortunately was disappointed.
The two of us shared a round of small plates to share (8 dishes) where the only thing really notable was the Kingfish. Everything else was mediocre or worst, the chicken for example was very salted and over seasoned.
The main was a highlight, a smoked pork chop which was very well done. The desert was also fine and came with a visual presentation.
Overall the quality of the food was good but would expect more for the hype and the prices paid. Definitely there are better dinners at this price point.

We took the '8 small plates to start, 1 main course to share and a pudding' promotional menu at £32.50 each. This proved to be innovative, delicious, excellent value for money and just the right amount to eat for two ageing appetites. However, we ordered 1 glass of champagne and 1 Bellini as appetisers, 1 bottle of Chablis (second least expensive white Burgundy on the list) with the meal, and 1 Bailey's and 1 Calvados as digestifs. The Prosecco in the Bellini was flat and we felt the need to send it back. The Chablis was not uncorked at the table and was kept elsewhere during the meal, out of our sight. (No skullduggery suspected, but rather bad practice we felt.) The drinks and service charge bumped up the base £65.00 bill to a total of £211.50 and we left feeling a little disappointed. Still, the table service had been so good that we slipped the waitress an extra tenner in cash.

Great location, environment and service. However, everything arrives on small taster sized plates so it soon gets to be extremely pricey if you go a la carte as we did. Our bill for 4 was £640 (!!) and we didn't feel we had really eaten very much. For the future I recommend finding a deal or going with the set menu.

Partner and I love Japanese food so we wanted to try Maze on New Year's Day. The menu has a very limited selection of sushi. Nigiri and maki platter taste very mediocre. I could buy 80% them straight from wasabi and they would taste the same. Not very good value for money. I wouldn't have gone if it didn't have the Gorden Ramsey name associated with it.

Having booked many weeks in advance and having received extremely good feedback from my partner (this being her fifth visit), we were very excited to spend one of the calendar’s most notable events at Maze, especially withstanding the excellent reputation of the Gordon Ramsay Group. This was sadly not met in the slightest.
Upon arrival, we were shown to our table and informed that the evening’s special was a Cote de Boeuf to be shared between two people (£80). After ordering this, plus two small plate starters later (which felt very rushed, with seemingly an emphasis on freeing up the table for later customers), we looked forward to receiving this dish.
Upon arrival however, whilst initially ‘wowed’ by its presentation, we were extremely disappointed to find our beef to be cold. Having conveyed this to our waiter, and then the manager, our dish was taken away and we were told some sort of ‘solution’ would be found. It was to our dismay that what transpired was very far from this, with our replacement (presented noticeably poorer) also being served extremely cold. Upon highlighting this to the manager, we were told that this couldn’t be the case as it had just been made, however after we continued to reaffirm our point, he eventually conceded and placed his thumb on the meat, thus that it was very cold.
We were subsequently offered a beef fillet each as replacement, however this was both considerably smaller and of 25% less (combined) monetary value than our original dish. Whilst tasting nice, this meant that we were still left hungry, and so therefore ordered a dessert each (something we were initially charged for), with the evening finally compounded by just one dessert being brought to us instead of the two that we ordered. On highlighting this to our waitress, we were met with an almost carefree shrug, with the final dessert brought out far after the original one had been finished.Overall, an extremely disappointing experience that came close to ruining our NYE.

Overall a nice experience but didn't quite live up to expectations. Our 4 cold starters arrived first, and 2 warm dishes followed when we had only just finished our first cold dish, with the result that those dishes got cold and I'm sure not the way the chef would like for them to be experienced. When I pointed this out to our waiter he was very apologetic but offered no solution, we simply ate tepid food. He then also went into sulk mode for the rest of the evening.
The dishes themselves were good to excellent, with the King Crab and Lamb being the standout dishes for us.
At £300 I think we were probably looking for some more innovation, but maybe Ramsey is going for simple food prepared well at this restaurant, and if that is his objective then he was successful. Other Michelin Star experiences are however more memorable and for that reason I would not recommend the restaurant.

4 stars are mainly for the service. Food is good but does not justify the price. The positioning of the fusion between French and Japanese is a bit awkward to me, and certainly not worth Michelin stars.

booked the set menu for Christmas day dinning for our family of 3. Overall it was a good experience, service was great, but very disappointed in some aspects quality of the meal based on the cost. All the appetizers were quite good, but sadly the turkey really missed the mark. My best description would be comparing it to turkey roll/processed not real turkey. I personally could have cooked a more moist and enjoyable bird. Also, while service was excellent, they did mistakenly add a bottle of wine from another table to our bill, luckily we caught the mistake. If i add up all the cost which was initially pre-paying over $600 Canadian, and then spending another $300 at the restaraunt, would have to say not worth it.

Memorable Christmas dinner!
The four of us had the special Christmas day dinner here. It was delightful, from the complimentary crowns and crackers to the enticing blend of traditional and new dishes. The highlight of the meal was the sushi and the sashimi course , but honestly everything from the beef to the bread was fresh and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful and fun.
We would love to go back and try the regular menu. It was a highlight of our trip to London!

Had my husband's 60th birthday dinner at Maze. It was expensive, but it was worth it. We had a fun time. The service was exceptional and attentive without being overbearing. The food was incredible. A wonderful evening - nothing was too much trouble - staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and not overbearing in the slightest. Food was stunning - went with two kids and food selection was great (for adults and kids) and was brought out promptly. Lovely restaurant with nice buzzy atmosphere. Everything a good restaurant should be - we were treated well, we ate well, we had fun and we left happy. Can't wait to go back.
