Server was polite but did not come to check on us at all. Table was filthy with dirty dishes (we had to ask him to clear it) server walked away as we were speaking to him (happened several times). When we told him we wanted our steak medium he replied “so you want it pink” as if we were idiots. The quality of the food was underwhelming. Steak was very thin and overcooked. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
When I went in the hostess was very unfriendly. Seemed like she didn’t want to seat me. Then we sat outside and it was nice but the waiter too seemed really unhappy to be there. We were pleasent and just ordered. Food was good but definitely felt like we were not wanted. Normally ok there but maybe they both had to work when they weren’t planning on it.
second time is a charm! We had a real good time I loved it so much for me and me and my family!!!!!
We have been to mon ami Gabi several times before and loved it, obviously, so we kept returning. We went for our date night on July 10,2020 and our experience was not as pleasant as previously. We expected some differences due to the pandemic and the reopening, etc. however, there was really no excuse as to how uncomfortably hot it was in the restaurant! It was so uncomfortable we could hardly stay long enough to finish eating. Everyone’s face ended up shiny by the time they left. They had outdoor seating as well and we wished we had chose it because at least there was a chance of a breeze outside. We actually felt relieved once we stepped outside and it was hot that day, around 86 or 87 degrees Fahrenheit. We would be hesitant to return in the summer for sure. Also, they are adding a 4% surcharge to your bill to help cover I guess the lack of business now due to occupancy amounts as well as you now have to pay for the baguette they used to give for free (which I understand I guess) plus there was none of the carrot slaw type thing they used to give with it. The bread was also not as good as before, it was pretty dry although warm. With so many other great dining options, and even though we absolutely love the goat cheese appetizer with the tomato sauce and garlic bread (which is why we kept returning) we would probably not consider returning unless they turn on the air conditioner for patrons in the middle of summer.
First lunch out after staying inside for the Covid rules.
The food was uninspired and overpriced. Fries were soggy. Prices have increased.
Excellent service and food.
Great that MAG is open again for inside dining. Food and service as good as always.
Excellent as always! Steak Frites Bordelaise, tomato, red onion and feta salad. The food is consistently good! I’ve been coming here for years and I’m never disappointed. They have adjusted well to all of the necessary changes during Covid-29. 5 stars all the way!
Mon Ami Gabi is now offering outdoor dining. The menu is more limited than in the past. Prices have increased considerably and it is no longer a good value.
This was our first outing to a restaurant since COVID. We ate outside and since they closed part of Woodmont Ave., it was very relaxing as we could watch people walking by. There were no menus and we ordered off the online menu. Food was delicious (Steak au Poivre!), service was stellar and was an overall fabulous dinner. Then we strolled over to Jeni's Ice Cream for dessert. Yum!
Mon Ami Gabi is doing a great job in adapting to the Phase 2 reopening rulz in MoCo. No place better to get steak frites.
We sat outside in reserved seating and had a wonderful lunch. This is my second time here and I have enjoyed both times very much!
Spacing was nicely done felt safe & comfortable. Went back to my favorites- gazpacho, escargot & steak au poivre. All were great as before the closure. French martini was the best. Chocolate mousse was okay nothing special. Overall a satisfying my first out of home meal.
Over 10 years everything has always been wonderful!
Nice service, good food and a great place to have lunch & dinner.
Excellent as expected
This is my favorite restaurant in Bethesda. Great food, service, and spirits in the heart of town. A warm and inviting team ensures a terrific experience.
Never disappoints! Have been going here for years, and my latest experience, yesterday, was just as good. This is admirable because so many restaurants seem great for awhile and then start to deteriorate. Love the food, especially the mussels and french bread. Wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service
I used to love the food here but the last time I went the food and appetizer were literally ready within 3 minutes of us ordering, before our drinks even hit the table. It was such a disappointing experience. Obviously the food was already prepared and put under heat lamps. The waiter was good but the hostess couldn’t even offer a “hello” upon our arrival. I will not be returning.
Our first visit to a restaurant in more than 3 months was a great experience. We started with wine and mussels under an umbrella on the sidewalk cafe and when the skies opened up, our waiter, Federico, hustled us inside and got us seated immediately. The steak frites, mussels, profiteroles and Sancerre were just what the doctor ordered. Couldnt be more pleased with the food and service. Thanks for taking such good care of us, Federico!
Very disorganized during the COVID ph2 reopening. Website made it seem as though we were reserving an outdoor patio table, but on arrival inside was only available which we declined for obvious reasons and had to find somewhere else to eat.
How do you discontinue béarnaise in a French Resturant? Bad move, steak frites is not the same with out it. And a 4% service fee come on. Increase your prices if you must but no service fee.
Some bad Decisions and will cost me returning.
Lovely outdoor dining and the mainstays of the menu all available
Father’s Day lunch. Outdoor tables were covered with big, red umbrellas to protect from occasional raindrops. Excellent server very detail oriented and friendly. Steaks Were prepared just as we like them and the French frites
were hot and crispy!
Traditional dishes always well cooked. It never fails to keep everyone happy, regardless of taste, age, etc.
Service was slow. Had to ask 3 times for bread that was ordered with entrees. I was told the mussels were large. Turned out the shells were large but the mussels were small.
Delicious steak and frites! Amazing apps and wine! Truly affordable and terrific service...just fantastic food all around!
Truncated menu due to Covid. Food was fine but not outstanding. Surprised that there is now a charge for bread and butter. Bread tasted a bit stale.
GREGORY SMITH! I will always remember that name. Wonderful service. He was engaging, prompt and professional. Because of COVID we had to eat outside. We are all getting used to the new normal, yet it was not the new normal it felt the same. Dinner with a good friend I had not seen in months. I actually hugged her tight. It was a beautiful moment and end to a stressful few months.
Food was incredible but our server was not as attentive as we thought he should have been.
The drink was not exactly what we asked for and I think bread and butter has to be free in all restaurants.
Mon Ami Gabi was fully prepared for the times. The outdoor tables were distanced from one another. The food was excellent as was the service. Open Table was a big problem, but the restaurant more than made up for any lapses in Open Table's deficiencies.
We ate outside. Lovely dinner as usual.
This place is wonderful. The staff are welcoming and good; the food is delicious - we loved going there, and will be back!
Food, service, outdoor ambiance were all wonderful. Only issue was our 9 o'clock reservation was accepted and confirmed and when we arrived we were told kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. We managed, but a 9 o'clock reservation should never have been accepted.
Great weather, properly social distanced, staff was great
steak was overcooked but overall was good. charging for bread is kind of stingy I think.
Absolutely wonderful, extremely impressed and satisfied.
