Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, Southern, French and Asian cuisine. Motor Supply works with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, dairy and more. Seafood is caught off of the SC coast, and all of our charcuterie, desserts, stocks, sauces and dressings are made in-house. The bar boasts an extensive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence-winning list (2006-13), imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes, mixed up by Head Barman Jake Smith.

    This is usually a very reliable good meal. Haver had lots of great times there. Last night something was off. Had a late reservation (930pm) because we had a 7 pm movie. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation. I said yes and the hostess rolled her eyes at me. She was not at all friendly and acted as if she did not want to be there. Our waitress was awesome. For some reason, the New York strip I ordered was so tough I could not eat it. Will go back, but they need to work on some things.

    Nice place to have brunch. Ambience is great with art by local artists. Menu changes all the time and there are options for everyone. Beware: kitchen allowed no substitutions but our waitress made it work for us. Nice drink menu. A bit loud on occasion but that is part of a repurposed garage :-)

    Our server was wonderful and gave us full attention. I would give a 5* review but three of us ordered the entree strawberry salad with goat cheese & pine nuts but we were very disappointed. There were maybe three sliced strawberries and fewer pine nuts. We did order an appetizer that was delicious so it was quite surprising to dislike the salad. Dessert was very good too! I feel certain we will return but order something else.

    We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at Motor Supply earlier this week. There was no trouble getting a reservation for a Tuesday night and we were seated upon our arrival. Our server, Stephanie, greeted us within 5 minutes of being seated, took our drink order and let us review the menu. Drinks were delivered and perfectly done after a slight correction, we're very particular about our dry martinis! We ordered the fried oyster salad---beyond delish! The oysters were so fresh. I ordered the duck w/farro, artichoke confit, rutabagas, and a cranberry relish-chutney - done perfectly and delicious. My husband ordered the shrimp and fried grits, that was dynamite! I would order both of these dishes again but if the shrimp & grits were on the menu the next time we visit, I'm ordering that. We shared a Panna Cotta for desert which just a perfect ending. I had a French Gamay-Pinot blend that worked nicely with the duck & my husband has a crisp Italian Pinot Grigio. This was just our second time to MSCB and each time they knock it out of the park.

    We weren't super impressed. Their menu is rather limited and pricey. I ordered shrimp and grits which were good. I liked that it wasn't a cream based sauce. My friend ordered the strip steak and it came out the wrong temperature. They happily took it back to prepare it medium rather than rare but it was very tough and grizzly. I don't know that we would return. Disappointing as it is highly recommended.

    Food was flavorful, however it was cold when it got to the table, I feel that it had sat in the window awhile. Also, the waitress did not mention that the special was $26 more than the regular New York Strip which was $42. She stated that it was the same as the NY Strip, but just included a ribeye. Overall experience was good, would have rated them higher if it were not for these two very important details. Probably will go back, but will say something if the food is cold again.

    Food was fresh, tasty and portion size was a fair size. Service was sub-par. We waited at least 10min after being seated before being greeted by the waiter. A quick, hey I will be right with you, goes a long way. Service was slow, not friendly, came across rude. The personality was straight faced, serious and appeared to be bothered. It was communicated that the tip was in cash and the waiter grabbed the bill, no eye contact, shrugged a thanks and kept briskly walking by the table. Having waited tables and now an executive in customer service, it was a disappointing experience for our first time and we likely will not return.

    Could not have been better. It was a Mothers Day brunch for my wife. She wondered if it was too early to book a table for next year’s Mother’s Day. She had catfish and I had pork loin. Food was outstanding. Our waiter was Blayne R. Was very knowledgeable about menu and was always there when we needed him without being obtrusive. Thanks for a great experience.

    Drinks, appetizer and one main dish was great. One dish had over cooked pork. Veggies were perfectly cooked. Service took longer than it should have, even being Mother’s Day. Not my best Motor Supply experience, unfortunately.

    Another wonderful evening at Motor Supply. This restaurant has moved up to #1 for us in fine dining in the Columbia area. No better dishes anywhere in town for foodies and the atmosphere and the details to service and their customers is 2nd to none. see you again soon. Mark S

    Pork chop was succulent but a bit fatty and the turnips, although tasty were undercooked. They didn’t have chamomile tea. The strawberry salad was super and plentiful and my friends loved the chocolate peanut butter desert

    This is sone of the better restaurants I've been to, anywhere in the US. The creative cocktail list, extensive wine list, and absolutely delicious entrees all make for a very memorable visit.

    Enjoyed lunch on the patio. At our table we had trout, burger and a shrimp fish. Everyone had positive outcomes. Very nice staff that allowed 2of us to be seated prior to opening to discuss work while waiting for our 11:30 business associates to arrive. Always look forward to the menu and good service. Great for business or pleasure lunch/dinners. Parking in lot was readily available at lunch.
