Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

Gaucho is my favourite place for steak. The food is always excellent. The service is usually good too, but at this one, it was a little slower than usual only because we had to wait 15 minutes to be offered a drink when we sat down. Maybe because there was an event on and they were busy, but that's not an excuse in my view. I'd still go back, though, as the service improved and our waiter was friendly and professional.

I had a lovely experience at DeRoya Lounge. The burger, wings and mac and cheese were all really yummy, and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and it was a great place to celebrate a special occasion. I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely recommend it!
