After a two-year closure, Original Joe's, San Francisco’s quintessential Italian-American dining destination, revitalized iconic Daly City institution Joe’s of Westlake, and reintroduced it into the community as Original Joe’s Westlake. An anchor of Daly City from 1956 to 2014, Original Joe’s Westlake underwent an extensive two-year renovation, complete with a front-to-back interior remodel, including the kitchen and all dining spaces, and an exterior and landscaping overhaul. Following the Original Joe’s tradition, Westlake continues to prepare unpretentious, old-school Italian-American fare in an open kitchen for all to see. The menu is carefully crafted to reflect a past-meets-present hybrid of what Joe’s of Westlake used to be and what Original Joe’s Westlake is today.

Evoking the spirit of the original Joe’s of Westlake, the newly renovated restaurant transports guests to Westlake circa 1960. Boasting Sputnik lighting, terrazzo flooring and redwood accents throughout, Original Joe’s Westlake elicits mid-century America in the likes of Palm Springs, Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. The newly reimagined Cascade Room features show-stopping pimento orange banquettes, and offers a variety of options for large gatherings—from private rehearsal dinners and memorial receptions, to smaller non-private family dinners, class reunions and birthday celebrations. With beautiful custom sliding doors, the Cascade Room can be divided in half, creating two fully private event spaces, accommodating up to 50 guests each.

We are native San Franciscans and every special occasion we spent at Westlake Joes. However, we have been in the East Bay for years now so every chance we get and where on the other side of the Bay we are there at Westlake Joes. It never fails us, the food is great, the service is great and the ambience is just how we remember it. This is our favorite Joes and will remain our favorite no matter where we are. Thank you for continuing to be in business all these years, we appreciate you!

The nicest thing I can write about Westlake Joe’s is that the restaurant doesn’t need a good review as its reputation is well known and reflected in the constant stream of customers entering and leaving the restaurant. I have never been there when there are not many happy people having a good time. The prices have increased with the cost of living but their portions remain generous and their service staff is always accommodating. Most important, their food remains delicious whether you order a sandwich or a meal and it is quite amazing that can create so many good meals for so many different people in a large, full restaurant.

Overall, the food, service, Ambience, and Value were outstanding. The noise level was a little high and very energetic. The food we ate was delicious. We also enjoyed our cocktails. I hope the people who ate at Original Joe's Westlake enjoyed the food they ate.
