We LOVED everything we ate at Parachute. We shared the Korean fried chicken, haemul pajeon, 30 day dry aged bulgogi, yukgaejang, and s'mores patbingsu. The vibe ws really fun and our service was great. When they open again, I'm certain they will bring the same care and expertise to another excellent experience.

Parachute has been a favorite gem and this was our last meal with them before its closing down service next week. I offer only the highest of praise to the chef/owners and their staff - what fabulousness you have provided. Looking so forward to the next adventure!

What can I say that hasn't already been said? There is a reason this restaurant has gotten award after award. Believe the hype. It's just that good. Despite the challenges a global pandemic has wreaked on the industry, Parachute remains exceptional. Flavors, combinations, presentation and service were excellent. I am sad to see this quality restaurant leave Avondale but am looking forward to coming back to their "new, larger space downtown" when it opens. Congratulations to Chefs Kim and Clark and their entire staff on 10 incredible years.

We had a wonderful experience at Parachute. The seafood was the freshest and the addition of Korean style boudin noir to the appetizer menu made a very pleasant and satisfying experience. Sorry to read that the restaurant will be closing on March 23, 2024. Hope it re-opens soon at a location in Downtown.

We were super excited to get a reservation at Parachute, but left feeling very disappointed. The vibe and service were good, although we did wait a long time between our starters and entrees. The restaurant is criminally overpriced. We paid $33 for a noodle salad that was basically cold noodles with gochujang. All the portions were very small though they say they’re all meant for sharing. Looking back through pictures in old reviews you can see that the portion sizes used to be much bigger. The food lacked both flavor and texture. Nothing was bad, but nothing was memorable either. We spent $100 each on dinner and left not feeling full. I feel genuinely confused by the situation because of the reputation of the restaurant and the prices they charge.

This was my first Michelin Star dining experience and the food quality and taste wasn't anything to brag about. We ordered the chicken wings and the wing tips of several wings were cold. We told our server and were given another order. Same result. We had other appetizer plates and they didn't have temperature issues or taste bad but, they were more a step or two above meh. The space is very cramped and noisy. It was impossible to have a conversation with my dining partner across the table without the patrons on each side of us hearing everything - we had to speak loud to be heard over others and that made the experience much less enjoyable. Our server was a tall, sturdy male and had to constantly look like a giant squeezing into a tiny car as he worked. Overall, highly disappointing.

The kimchi pajeon and whole grilled mackerel were outstanding. The server recommended a makgeolli that I probably would not have tried and it was perfect. Parachute is welcoming and completely unpretentious.

Well, as I was eating with my wife, I felt something stab my gums, upon investigating in the washroom I found a piece of metal logged in my gum. This shouldn’t happen at a MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT. The waitress whom had nothing to do with the issue was the only one to apologize to us. Careless, by chef and the manager there. Sucks because it was a really nice place when they first opened up, would not go back.

It makes sense Parachute lost their Michelin star. I came here with my parter for the Valentine's Day Menu. I made a reservation three weeks in advance and asked for a secluded table. Not only were we seated at a communal high-top table, but also right by the door - literally maybe <4ft from the door and it was freezing! I half considered eating with my jacket on. I understand that sometimes restaurants cannot accommodate requests, but other tables were open, so this felt like a deliberate choice. ZERO effort was made to accommodate my request- anything would have been better. I would not have booked VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER here had I known we'd be at a communal table... like bffr. It's not that hard to let me know that a 2 person table isn't available, as restaurants have reached out to me in the past. Also, on the booking platform Opentable, you can configure the type of booking you allow. I emphasize yet again, I would not have booked this had I known it was going to be a communal high top lol The table location caused further issues when over 10 people lined up by the host booth and kept standing over me as I tried to enjoy the meal. People bumped into me several times, including the host. At ANY self respecting establishment, I would have expected the staff to at least try herding the crowd away from the diners. It's extremely uncomfortable trying to eat when there are people standing right behind me, breathing down my neck, and elbowing me. Now onto the food: mediocre at best. Bulgogi was cold (maybe because of the breeze inside lol). After looking at the a la carte menu, I realized the Valentine's Day Menu was not a good deal after all, but I guess that's my bad. The Michelin Stars from the years 2016-2021 sit on top of a shelf at Parachute as a remnant of what once was. Maybe it's time to look at them for inspiration rather than let them gather dust.

I thought the haemul pajeon was the best thing I’ve ever tasted, and then every dish brought out after that was somehow even better. This might be the best tasting meal I’ve ever had.

Extremely disappointed by the tackiness of secretly adding a 4% fee of "health and wellness" to pay for the employees health insurance. That's the job of the employer or the employee to pay with the money from their tips. Paying a 20% tip on a $400 bill should be sufficient enough without added fees that we didn't approve. This restaurant added it into our bill and was only noticed once we did a check of the bill. Sneaky and greedy. I will forgo on coming back again.

Parachute isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment you step into the warm, inviting space, you're greeted by the friendly hum of conversation and the tantalizing aroma of Korean fare reimagined. But the true stars of the show are the food and the service. Our server, Holly, was an absolute gem. Knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly friendly, she guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, making recommendations that perfectly catered to our tastes. Her passion for the food was infectious, and it only heightened our anticipation for each dish. And the food? Oh, the food! The yuk hwe (Korean beef tartare) was a symphony of textures and flavors, the chilled, melt-in-your-mouth meat perfectly complemented by the sesame dressing and preserved shallots. The haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) was a crispy delight, bursting with fresh shrimp and squid in every bite. No wonder it's on the top of everyone's list of favorites. The pork bossam and the godeungeo gul (grilled mackerel) were both delicious although enthusiasm for them varied from diner to diner. To cap off this incredible culinary journey, we indulged in the chocolate shaved ice for dessert. This decadent creation was a textural masterpiece, the fluffy shaved ice cradling pockets of rich chocolate sauce, sweet red beans, and crunchy rice puffs. It was the perfect ending to a truly unforgettable meal.

The food is so mediocre, but with a fine dining price. My friend and I went to Parachute during the restaurant week and the menu was for a family style, but still charged $59 per person. The food did not have much difference with that in H Mart food court, which was a totally disappointment to us, because of it's so overly priced. Not recommended at all.

Honestly I wanted to be impressed my parachute but I was sad I wasn’t. I came during restaurant week and the menu didn’t advertise that you would have to share a course with the person you were dining with which caused frustration as we both had different dietary restrictions. I was told if I wanted something separate i would need to order from the a la carte which was overpriced. Lastly apart from the first course and the dessert being very good, the chicken and bulgogi was ok.. Nothing exciting.. Honestly the lack of flexibility was very frustrating and disappointing..

Maybe I hadn’t done my due diligence but I didn’t know it was going to be so spicy! I started thinking I was going to enjoy this amazing salad, until my palates was almost destroyed! Couldn’t make it past one bite of salad. They striped my wings because they apparently make those spicy too. They had no additional sauce or anything else as an option. Despite begging to have nothing else spicy brought to me, they again bring something spicy with the pulkogi. Which I was able to remove and send immediately back. The safest and best thing was the Smore Pat Bing Su. If you like spice this is the place for y’all. If you don’t / they have nothing but dessert and potentially rice without spice

This food was definitely not worth it for the price at all. The price for restaurant week was actually more expensive than if you got the same entrees on the normal menu, due to sharing the portions. They claimed the portions were bigger but my sister has been there 4+ times and said they were the same. The food was also quite bland and not very flavorful. The service wasn’t as attentive as a Michelin star restaurant would be expected to be. Definitely would say this place is sooo overpriced.

The food is to die for! The hosts, servers, cooks, dessert chef, and cleaning staff are all wonderful! Everyone cares so much for this restaurant and its patrons and it shows! All staff put in as much, if not more, effort than they would their own families and friends. It all shines through in the service. When I am at Parachute, I feel like I’m hanging out with some of my friends - the level of hospitality is unmatched.

All of the food and cocktails were amazing. My favorite was the frozen tartare. I would come back just for their cocktail #3! I did not like the seating. I prefer a more private setting. All tables felt so close together and it felt like an upscale stuffy diner. But would definitely come back again!

During restaurant week, the same table has to order the same food, which I thought was ridiculous. I could get the chicken wings from Crisp. Korean bbq from elsewhere for much cheaper prices. I am not surprised they lost their Michelin star. For what you get, bad deal.

Food was amazing. Service the same. Grateful they weren't in a busy area to find easy free parking.
