Good dinner, very busy and lively which is good (that means people like it) good service, food was good.

I went to 220 for brunch, specifically for the Shrimp and Grits. My family and I were seated and waiting patiently for the waitress/waiter to take our orders. The waitress came to take our drink and food order, she brought the orange juice and cranberry in short glasses. I asked why did she choose to bring us short glasses of juice (that was WARM), she stated that is how juice is served; which was a unnecessary lie as I scanned the dining area before making the inquiry and every table around us had their juice served in tall round glasses. The waitress proceeded to walk towards the kitchen telling other waitstaff that I was upset that she gave my family and I short glasses of juice. All of the staff in the dining area began to stare towards my family and I and engaged the waitress in the negative conversation. When the waitress brought out our meals, the big breakfast was delivered to our table as ordered. My shrimp and grits were thick, grainy and bitter, my family member's shrimp and grits were watery, grainy and bitter. When the waitress came to our table to inquire on the food, I explained the grits were thick and not done as i could taste the grains of grits. She apologized and took both plates back to the kitchen, again telling all the staff she came in contact with along the way how I was now complaining about my food. For the second time, the nasty looks and stares for all staff commenced; minutes later a staff person came over to the table (i assume a manager as she didn't introduce herself)to inquire about and apologize for the issue with the food. She ensured us she would talk to the chef and have him re-make the dishes correctly. I declined a second attempt for my dish; my family member gave them another try. The dish was delivered again but it was not as expected. I feel the mishap with the food was purposely done because of my interaction with the waitress. The manager covered the meals because of our inconvenience.

Food and service was excellent. Kitchen was a little slow but the waiter and management acknowledged it and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of well. This is why we continue to come back.

We enjoyed an amazing evening, celebrating with dear friends! Elizabeth provided exceptional service and the food was perfectly prepared!!

I visited 220 on both Xmas eve and New Years eve. I just moved to Birmingham and took 5 there for Xmas. Like it so much I went back on New Years. Food is fantastic and wait service exceptional and friendly. The reason I am writing this is to compliment the staff for their services. The disappointment comes in on the performance of the Manager / Maitre d' . In the middle of our $250.00 dinner with $100 champagne, they told us that the next table came in early and they needed our table to set them as they were a larger crowd. They then picked up a spare table and carried it over our backs... Really, they set up that table with extra sets to put on our table when we would leave. How desperate it this place? we were only sat for 40 min. when this began. I felt like I was eating at Gino's East Pizza in Chicago. There are many wonderful places in Birmingham, I spent about $600 in two meals there last week. I guess you got to know somebody at this option because Open Table customers are treated like low end grind. Jim

All around great place! The food, drinks, and service were all fantastic. This is a great place to go for a nice date!

Loved the cotton candy and moscato. Food was pretty good.

Food was delicious but make sure you are not in a hurry. We waited 45 minutes for our main course. Salad came out quickly and then we waited and waited even though we told our server we had a time constraint. By the time we got our dinner we had to rush through it. Our server seemed scattered.

Amazing food amazing customer service will definitely recommend

We returned tonight so we could also see Birmingham still lit up for Christmas. The display is lovely. The Firecracker Shrimp app is good. I recommend asking for the sauces on the side. The tomato soup was a bit bland. The chopped salad was limp and just okay. We ordered lamb chops with farro and haricot verte. The dish looked spectacular. The chops were a bit overdone. We also ordered a side of mushrooms. Very good. Service is very attentive. This is actually a great place for dinner. The tables are roomy and nicely spaced. While I love Tallulah, nearby, I avoid it in winter because the tables are small and too close. We’ll return to 220 and really enjoy outdoor seating in summer.

The food was decent but not memorable. The service was excellent.

To loud in the bar to make dining special.
No-one took responsibility to move or remove drunk person at the entrance to the dining area. The drunk made diners uncomfortable. Drunk patrons are the responsibility of the establishment. Other than that food was ok!

Engagement dinner and was surprised with a chocolate sundae on the house. It was a great experience and will definitely be back!

Great food, beautiful atmosphere and flawless service. I also want to thank Kayla for going out of her way and putting money in our parking meter so we could continue to enjoy dinner.

It was an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the most outstanding service. We were served by Llazar who was very professional and and made our experince a one of a kind.

We were terribly disappointed! Our son came home from college and it was his first time there so we were excited for him to try the short ribs and they were cold!! All three of our meals were cold and the guys sent their ribs back and they were returned still cold! My burger wasn't hot either but I ate it because everything took so long and we were tired. I can see why my brother (who used to be a fan) said he would never go back there!!

Overall great experience. From the fun bubbly cocktails to the delicious food. My friends and I had an amazing time celebrating the holidays. Kayla and Elizabeth were our severs and they gave excellent service.

No Santa on a Santa brunch day. Food was ok not great. Love the ambience

We had reservations for a Santa Brunch. There was no kids menu, our highchair strap was broken, and Santa never showed up. I understand that things happen and no one had direct control over the situation, but the staff was uninformed and largely unapologetic. They did comp our meal, but now I have to get my kids dressed up again this coming weekend and take them somewhere else to see Santa.

The waitress was not friendly at all, actually was pretty rude for most of the night. We could barely get her to stay at the table for a second without her trying to run off.

I always have an amazing time at 220! The staff is very helpful in picking out wines that will go well with my meal, the food is always unique and delicious, and the environment is really fun! Everyone is eating, drinking, and having a good time! Definitely check it out!

Amazing brunch, my new favorite spot! Food was spot on!

We went for a Sunday brunch. The service was terrible and the restaurant was not even busy. We had to wait 45 min for French toast. Our coffee was never refilled and we could not even find a server to ask for more. So disappointed because this used to be a very special and classy place. Not anymore.

Even though we had a reservation we were seated in the bar area where people were abnormally loud (before 7pm).

Love our server. Had her a year ago when I came back home. Food is so spot on and amazing. The crowd cracks us up.

Food was good, a bit pricy. Seating area was nice and comfortable. A little too loud for a Monday night. Appetizers were better than the entrees.

My wife And I took my sister and brother in law to celebrate her birthday. It was a great decision to celebrate it here! Our server Elizabeth was very courteous, attentive and had a extensive knowledge with such enthusiasm about the menu selections! Every step of the way was never a disappointment. Do not hesitate to participate in a great dining experience!

Nice spot offering more contemporary surroundings and menu options than many of their contemporaries within the downtown region of Birmingham.

The evening started out great. The drinks were lovely and the apps were great. The wait staff was very attentive. Then our dinners came and everyone disappeared. I ordered the Chef's recommended butcher cut (I think that's what it was called) and is was very underwhelming. I just wanted salt (there were no salt and pepper shakers on the tables). No one was found. So, I ate my extremely expensive bland steak. Also, we were celebrating a birthday and indicated it in the reservations. Nothing Done. With the amount of money we spent, I just expected a little more. With so many other options for dinner, I won't be returning.

I've been to 220 Merrill many times, and this most recent visit was my favorite. We came for my girlfriend's birthday and had a blast. The food was delicious, per usual. Oysters, burrata, sea bass, filet, and a chocolate lava cake for dessert. They also brought a huge martini glass full of cotton candy as a surprise. I'll certainly be coming back here. Highly recommended!

Great place for after hours. Only problem was the misleading advertisement regarding Happy hour discount deal. It was not explained that it is only for Bar area. Otherwise, I would have scheduled a later time that was more convenient for me and my guests

Amazing filet and calamari! Great waiter but wish he came around more often as our drinks stayed empty for awhile.

Overall great atmosphere, wonderful service! We will be back!
