Food was dismal. It was as if it had been made and left to sit until served. Sandwiches were stale and dry. For €49 per person I was disappointed with the amount of food too. Just not enough. As for ambiance, there was none. They had us seated on the mezzanine and there was us and one other table. It’s obviously not very popular. Which is surprising for a hotel such as the Fitzwilliam.

Worst afternoon tea I ever had Stale scones, bread and tesco value products sold at an extreme rate. The products tasted like they were sat in the fridge for days. Sat in a lobby next to a very noisy entrance with 0 music to set the ambiance. The waitress was lovely and made the most of an incredibly disappointing afternoon.

The food was excellent but the Christmas atmosphere was non existent. The manager was very nice and said it was a new concept and they would work hard to improve it. He gave me 50% off the bill , so top marks for customer service. I hope they get the atmosphere right as it has great potential.

We had expected to sit in the bright airy foyer of the hotel with my 11 year old as a treat. She had been asking to have ‘afternoon tea in a posh hotel’ for ages. We were seated in the dark hotel bar after requesting the foyer. The scones were not fresh and unfortunately neither was the Victoria sponge which my daughter was looking forward to. I got the impression the staff felt our discomfort in the bar and were incredibly sweet and did their best. My daughter scored it a 3 out of 10 but spending €90 brought it down to a 2 for me.

I cant recommend the Fitzwilliam hotel enough!!!! Myself and friend went here for my birthday and have never experienced customer service like I did that day. All the staff were super nice and all helpful and all the little touches made it even better (I received a birthday card from the hotel!) Festive afternoon tea was fabulous too! A big thank you from myself and Jess, cant wait to go back again! Roxy

The order of how it goes or what's included is not very clear. We got. Glass of prosecco and weren't sure if there was any more or that was it. Our tea came before we finished our prosecco. Mine was very weak. Savoury bites were quite nice but small, there was far more desserts and they were much more hit and miss. My partner was having her birthday, so we're presented with a slice of a basic chocolate cake at the end after desserts and scones (which tbf were fantastic). It was fine but not worth over 100e for two.
