Afternoon tea was lovely. The food was a little bit over the top, and sometimes we weren't quite sure what we were eating, but it was yummy and we had a nice time

We had a lovely afternoon tea in The G hotel on St Patricks Day. Great food excellent service friendly helpful staff.I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel for afternoon tea. My son and his girlfriend treated me for my birthday and I will definitely return in the very near future.

Had lovely afternoon tea. Read reviews beforehand and was a bit worried as a lot had said about food not fresh & inexperienced staff. It was not the case today, food was fresh, tea/coffee was topped up and staff were lovely and attentive.

Afternoon tea very poor. Cakes were dry, some bland even stale. We left most of them. Only one tiny Sandwich per person no other sandwiches or choice, a couple of other tiny savoury bits. We came to Galway for Christmas from London and booked this afternoon tea for my mother in law as a treat and we all were so disappointed. Lovely hotel, staff were attentive and friendly. Manager was apologetic and as we had already paid gave us a complimentary round of drinks. So disappointing as I have had afternoon tea in the Ritz, the Corinthia and many other high end hotels in London and their afternoon teas are fabulous.

Afternoon Tea at The g HotelResponded on 28 December 2022Dear NatO, Thank you for joining us at The g Hotel over Christmas. My apologies that we appear to have missed the mark so considerably on this visit. We have shared you r feed back among the team and we are working to create a better balanced and more appetizing Afternoon Tea experience for our guests. Thank you for your candid review and I hope to welcome you to The g hotel Afternoon Tea again. Best regards, Martin Howley Hotel Manager

Requested More Savory than sweet which the lady said she would request from chef alright , its literally 70% sweet . €105 for 3 people , food was poor and way way too much sweet , not enjoyably as you Simpy couldn't eat that many cakes and a lot of the sweet treats were very heavy . Absolutely couldn't recommend , and would not return . Felt i could have had the finest al la carte for 3 for €105 euro. Very disappointing

Afternoon Tea at The g HotelResponded on 28 December 2022Dear Gerald, Thank you for your candid and well balanced feed back on your Afternoon Tea experience with us. I regret that we have missed the mark so clearly in relation to the balance of offering and we are working to create a more diverse Afternoon Tea. I regret also that we did not meet your request for more Savory options. Please reach out to me should you be joining us again. Best regards, Martin Howley Hotel Manager

It was the worst afternoon tea I've ever had. I took out my sister, mother and granny and between us we barely ate a quarter of the food. Not once did a staff member check in on us. I wasn't asked how things were when I paid and I regret not saying any of this in person but I didn't want to cause a fuss in front of my granny. We got 4 tiny sandwich types things, some of which were stale. A tiny scone, a dry cupcake and not once were we asked if we wanted any more tea/coffee. Really disappointed. I brought home 12 desserts to my husband and ended up throwing them all in the bin because he didnt even eat them. The cost for the 4 of us was crazy when you compare it to the amount of food we got. We had to go for lunch afterwards as the food was so bad. So disappointed and more mad at myself for not saying it in person but didn't want to ruin the afternoon.

Unfortunately I have had better at the G. The food was ok, v little on the savoury plate and there were two plates of very rich, mostly chocolaty desserts. Service was very slow and staff although very nice, were inexperienced and appeared to lack training.

A few mins after getting seated we received our coffee. I asked for milk and sugar but after 20 mins waiting for it I had to go up to find a waiter and ask again. Waited 45 mins for the tray to come out. That's quite a lot of time for a couple of sandwiches and cakes..only to find a massive black hair on top of the cakes. Could not be unnoticed. Not enough waiters on the floor. Would not come back or recommend to anyone.

Service was very poor. We waited 30mins for food. I had to get up and follow up on food order (it was just standard afternoon tea), a cup of tea order and request tap water twice. When I went to pay there was no one around to take payment. Staff did not seem trained to keep an eye on customers to see if they needed anything.

Staff were attentive. Location of table was good. Array of food was disappointing compared to other afternoon teas we have had. But more adventure in range needed here. Price was not bad

It was a nice experience, mostly as we got some lovely photos of the kids. We did have a long wait after we arrived at time booked. It was 30 - 40minutes later, we got the tea. Nice selection overall but some of the breads didn't seem the freshest, or else they were stored overnight. We weren't offered a refill of our beverages and staff were fairly thin on the ground. I saw one couple leave as they were fed up waiting to place an order. Also I couldn't understand that in a big area we were all seated in one part of the room, and because it was sooo quiet, with no background music etc it was a bit awkward having strangers practically beside you. I've always likes the G its a rare treat fir us so I probably would give it another chance in the future.

Afternoon Tea at The g HotelResponded on 28 December 2022Dear JoanneC, Thank you for the balanced feed back on your experience with us. Our sincere apologies that this treat was not what might have been but please rest assured we are working hard on our new concept and offering to ensure the finest Afternoon tea experience anywhere. Hi, when we arrived for our afternoon tea there was no one to guide us as were to go ,I went into the room to the left of the reception as there was people being looked after at the desk, anyway there was a bar tender preparing drinks at the bar while his colleague waited with a tray at other side of the bar, I stood for about one minute and neither of them acknowledged I was there but proceeded to have a personal conversation, I just left the bar and we then came across a fella at concierge desk and he directed us to the tea room, he was very courteous may I add, we then stood for what seemed like 10 minutes and members of staff walked by numerous times and did not acknowledge our presence, I do understand they were very busy at the time but it not hard to say hello I will be with you shortly, When we did get seated the staff who served us were pleasant. The afternoon was very nice but feel could do with more savoury bits than sweet but that's just my take on it, I feel €35 way to expensive for what is on your plate.

This was a terrible experience. On arrival 5 minutes early. Lots of staff bustling about. Firstly they didnt recall two email request for a particular table. So they had to clear a table for us. They made no reference to a birthday special request which was also emailed, my mother was 88. When being seated they gave us adult menus for two children. When asked for two cushions one for my 88 yr old mother the other for my 5 yr old daughter as she was clearly too short to reach the table they came back with two bottoms of other seats, no cushions!. We enquired about the menu of the afternoon tea, what were our options to what was replied you can have everything, you just choose tea or coffee. They brought out tea followed 10 minutes later with two hot chocolates and the waitress spilled one all over the floor, table, my daughters teddy and her Christmas party dress. She was very upset about her teddy, he was drenched in hot chocolate. At this stage we all were fed up but I didnt want to upset the children by having to leave and go elsewhere as we wanted to get home in time for the Toyshow. Now there were no staff around and hardly any customers. Tea was getting cold and hot chocolates were drank. When I asked the waitress if it would be much longer, 30 minutes in to placing our order we were told... soon. It took 40 minutes to come out! It was just dumped on our table with no communication about what was what. It consisted of 6 triangles of brown bread sandwiches that looked like leftovers from someone elses table, sweet treats which were ok but way too much chocolate. My two children were fed up waiting and had drank all their hot chocolate 15 minutes before the afternoon tea came out. This was soposed to be a birthday treat for my mother. We drove from Roscommon especially. Bitterly disappointed is an understatement. No service. No variety. No taste. No apology for it being 40 minutes coming out. E100 spent . I feel robbed.

we had the pleasure of having afternoon tea with a friend. We were served by a very nice girl, Karolina, who answered our questions very helpfully. She offered us a hotel bus to the xmas market in the city center. the sandwiches and cookies were delicious and the drinks looked and tasted great . there was a beautiful Christmas atmosphere in the hotel, beautiful decorations, especially gingerbread at the reception, I recommend this place
