   Very disappointed. Turned up for a booking to a nearly empty restaurant at the time. There was a small group of about 10 that looked to be there on a work meeting, plus a few other couples. There were 2 members of staff manning the bar / restaurant and both devoting their full attention to the group. I had brought my father here for a belated father's day lunch and we both stood at the bar for over 10 minutes and at no point did a member of staff come over to get us seated or at least let us know that they would be with us shortly. I appreciate the staff were getting the small group settled, but one member of staff could have got us seated and had us looking at the menu while we waited. Found the service very poor based on the expectations I had and the standard of the overall premises. Couldn't comment on the food as we left without being seen to. Golf course was very nice however and highly recommend that.

   We asked for a quiet table as it was our wedding anniversary, the waiter offered two tables but said he couldn't avoid 2 very loud hen parties, our main course was late, I had to ask for my peppercorn sauce as the chef forgot it, we were promised a wine chiller for our white wine, it never arrived, the staff seemed to be more interested in encouraging and dancing along with the hen party than paying attention to the other guests, another couple mentioned the same thing the following day in conversation in the spa.

   A little slow to attend for initial drinks choices and we walked away at the end as we asked for someone to attend for a coffee and whiskey order but no one came. Other than that the service was good, staff personable and happy. Atmosphere was lovely and the food was beautifully served, tasty and in abundance.

   Overall a very nice meal, service was excellent, food was good quality and the restaurant was nicely furnished. Table was booked for 7pm and the restaurant was not busy so atmosphere was rather quiet.

   Unfortunately we were told that our booking for elements could not be honoured, so we were transferred to the bar and had to select from the bar menu. It turned out that the bar food was very good and we were well looked after, and received apologies from Simon. So although we were disappointed at first, we felt that we did receive a reasonable alternative.

   I don’t want to meet (alone) anyone who thinks the dark, plastic greenery is anything other than gross. The menu is great but too ambitious for which ever chefs were on duty last night. To be fair they had a decent go at it but for that price you’d expect the quality to go with it. Altogether the overall impression is 'weird'. Such a shame - a wonderful old house rather trashed.

   Restaurant was freezing. It’s a strange space - very open yet cave-like… booths are nice but they face each other so are not the cosy spaces they should be, service friendly but slow and inconsistent, my food was tepid and needed more seasoning. Overall it’s trying to be something it’s not. Attention to detail is lacking.

    Excellent food, friendly efficient service, beautiful surrounds. The hotel refurb is looking amazing. My only thought was the ambiance was a little lacking, it felt too quiet for me, to the point where you think everyone can hear your conversation. There didn’t appear to be any background music.

    Living locally and enjoying eating out we thought we would try an evening meal having lunch on the terrace previously ( great menu and good value) We enjoyed a drink in the luxurious bar. Although we liked the style of the restaurant we felt it lacked atmosphere only a few tables were taken in a large room, many were not laid/dressed. Also an up market hotel should have an experienced manager on hand even if only as cheerleader for the place and to obtain real time feedback. Menu was more interesting than the norm- good but there was not a lot of variety for myself as I don't eat fish or seafood. We both had braised blade of beef, a generous piece but a little dry. there was a very tasty jus but just not enough of it. Good wine list we had an excellent bottle of Neprica at a fair price. Almost but not yet a very good restaurant
