This was a wonderful meal, pasta was very fresh and tasty. We came in for a rather early meal and it was quiet but everything meal wise was perfect I just missed the amibiance of a louder cafe, hopefully the pandemic brings people back in droves

When you receive the the email of the confirmation of your reservation you get access to the menu, but it doesn’t match the actual menu in the cafe which is much more limited. Also, the servers are not very professional, unsure of themselves they don’t always know what is available. But the overall impression of the place is pleasant, you just have to know what to expect.

This definitely is a niche restaurant in Calgary and a relief from all the steak places, which offer Veggies fake meat substitutes full of fake fat, blood and gristle and only suitable for carnivores on a health kick, these days... ( The days of the textured bean burger are numbered and these gruesome replacements are going to be the only thing on their menus in future...). Anyway away from that rant... Minimalist and chic with excellent, attentive helpful staff who were not in your face all the time. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were accommodated without fuss... I had the pear and gorgonzola Ravioli, which was delicate in flavour and rich and filling in content. personally I would have upped the gorgonzola content but I'm weird that way.... Mrs B had the squash pasta which gave her inspiration for future home cooking.. Dessert selection was superlative, though i stupidly went for the Tiramisu which came in a plastic cup with a lid makingit look store bought and wasn't as exciting as the real bakery stuff they had in the display fridge. I was too lazy to go and look so that's my own fault.... Wine was good value. I just had the house white and it was pleasant, dry and a nice quaff. Didn't taste like the cheapest hock they could find and was up my street for a casual drinking wine. Only concern was that we had a starter but were only part way through when the main course arrived.. at least though they didn't whip the starter away, which I have had done elsewhere! Prices are a wee bit on the high side, but again in this time of inflation they probably need it to survive. I would recommend it as a change from the boring old chains which unfortunately remain ubiquitous throughout Canada More power to their independent elbow!

Second time being here. Food was fine, I do think the portion of the carbonara I had compared to the price was not enough. Service was poor. Our server, although friendly, did not check up on us anymore after food was delivered to our table. Even after eating, we waited for atleast 15minutes for our server to come, but we ended up just standing up and coming up to her to ask for a to go box and the bill.

There was little offering on the menu as they were going through a menu change. The server was new to the profession and had not been trained well by the management. I love the atmosphere though so will try again.

Just not worth the price . Our server was slam whit a full dining room all at once and no one to help her . This place needs to train there staff properly we usually go there once a month but probably won’t go back . It as been like this the last few times, enough is enough .

The thing about this restaurant is it is a busy daytime "cafeteria" style restaurant, lots of foot traffic from Princes Island leaves little time for cleaning and prep for the evening restaurant dining experience. The food took a bit longer than expected, but was actually the best thing about the experience. Dirty floors, overused bathrooms and everyone getting shuffled out of the restaurant in the dark after 9:00 was not really appealing, if you are looking for a good meal - maybe off the bike or after a walk this is probably a good bet. Not really an invite your friends to dinner spot.

I took my 5 and 6 year old nephew and niece and they had a perfect kids sized pasta that they loved. The hostess even printed out colouring pages for them!

Lets start by saying the bakery and cafe is stellar. Breads, pastries, desserts, coffee and pantry items are worth the trip. Great brunch menu and the takeout options travel well. It is hard to get a seat here sometimes on weekends so show up early. The dinner menu is just ok. Not executed consistently as some of the pastas are heavily seasoned. The service is again ok at night. Friendly but not detailed or attentive, owing to some inexperience but nothing upsetting or off-putting. Overall its decent neighbourhood spot, your best bet is to pre-order, take it to the park and enjoy the Bow River.

I was here last October and the service was very poor then - they actually forgot to put in our order. Last night it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get out food. When our food came - the beet salad came with our pizzas and pasta. We were not sure if they were waiting for the hot food to get to the same temperature before they brought it all out. Food was warm, but tasty. Service was poor. If I was to recommend this place, I would tell my friends to eat before they go; cause it could be awhile.

I usually really enjoy my experience at Alforno's . This time, I found the octopus casarecce to be salty and I thought the price of the charred cabbage was expensive, especially for just a quarter of the head. I like the meatballs, I found it was soft and lean because of the veal.

When I was reserving there was time slots till 10 pm But when I reach there they was preparing for closing. At first they was confused and then they invited us to a seat and told us to order our food ASAP because the kitchen was shutting down. And we should leave at 9 pm. It didn't work for us, we were there for our anniversary not just eat and go. So we left. Although I like the place but that was disappointing.

Food and coffee is always an absolute delight. Too bad they ran out of meatballs. The server was young and took away my cutleries before I can put away my take home. I end up using my bare hands to put my leftover pizza in the box provided. Having said that I will still dine in here.
