Despite 2 waiters doing an amazing job in a very crowded room service was actually very slow as the restaurant was clearly very understaffed

The service was very good but slow. I would prefer if portions were small and price came down. €6.9 something for a piece of cake was far too expensive. Far too much cake - halve the cake and halve the price. Fish was excellent but over €23 for it was mad. Will not rush back. Cushion on chair was uncomfortable.

The service and delivery of food/drink orders was awful. The restaurant appeared understaffed for the time of morning (it was busy) but we had to ask a number of times for items such as coffee/tea.

Three of us booked in for breakfast last Saturday morning. The staff were lovely and the food was great. I ordered the Avoca scrambled eggs with sausages served with Avoca brown bread and roasted tomato. My only comment is that my breakfast was enormous. But I could only eat half of it. The two sausages were the equivalent of five regular sized sausages and the scrambled eggs were enough for 2 people. And I could only eat half of one slice of the delicious Avoca brown bread. When the staff collected my plate they agreed that the breakfast is too big and they rarely see people finishing it. It feels wrong to waste so much food

Food was delicious and portions are generous. Booking request was noted and seating was perfect. Service was really good. It is a tad pricey, a burger and chips €22.95. Vegetables are an extra side order! A glass of house wine €8. In saying that all of it was really good. Overall a great experience. Would recommend for sure.

Food delicious. We both had the ragu which was so tasty and flavoursome. Service was very poor. We asked for desert menu which never appeared but apologised for, we asked for the bill but again it never appeared. It was lunch time and not everyone has the time to be sitting around. I left the table and on my out told the server we were still waiting for the bill but my partner ended up leaving the table and waited at the till to pay. Disappointed.

It's usually one of our favourite spots, but unfortunately today the service was very bad. I understand the new staff, but there should be a bit more balance between new and more experienced staff. We got water 25 minutes after our order (and we had to ask few times more), coffees 35 mins after (same thing) and food after 45 mins, and the place was half empty. Such a pity cause the food was still good as we were used to, but overall negative experience.

It is impossible to talk to anyone at Avoca to make specific requests in relation to a reservation. I tried for three days. I then was obliged to make a reservation online and hope for the best. Luckily, it turned out that we were given a suitable table where my disabled friends could sit. However, until we arrived, I was not sure that we would be able to stay. Avoca Head Office does not answer calls either. I tried their number five times before giving up. None of the options on the Avoca Monkstown phone line answered. Each time I was put back to the option list. I made about twenty calls. I will not be dining at any of the Avoca places in future unless I can speak to a human when making a reservation. The food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. Such a pity about customer relations by phone. For interest….Parking is a pain.

We waited 40 minutes for two coffees & a tea, which is dreadful service. We go there quite regularly and are normally pleased but last Thursday they were desperately short of staff who were doing their best but just could not cope with the number of customers. The table beside us ordered coffee & scones, but the scones came long after they had finished their coffee, so they refused them.

The menu didn’t suit the occasion as my elderly companions didn’t really have any choice but the cod for mains. It was lovely though but would have benefitted with fresh rather than puréed veg. No dessert menu was a disappointment Service wasn’t great as trainee but rescued by a more seasoned server in the end. No buzz Not an unpleasant experience just not what I was looking for

We booked at 12 15 thinking it was still brunch, arrived early and was told we couldnt order till 12 30. The lunch menu for a Sat was not great and we all ended up with soup. Our fault for not checking what time brunch ended but I thought brunch at the weekends was normal till 2ish. Will book earlier next time.

Why advertise your menu on your website if the food advertised isn’t available. We only went for the Beef Bourginon which wasn’t on the lunch menu provided and no apology when we queried this with the kitchen. Disappointing beyond words.

Not a great experience. Restaurant was relatively quiet mid morning which was fine but service was very poor. We were told it was due to staff shortage. I had breakfast and while sausages and bacon were hot, the 2 poached eggs were cold which was not good. I felt there was no use in pointing it out as I couldn’t get the attention of anyone. We won't be rushing back.

Really enjoyed our lunch her on Sunday. Loved that you could have something small if you liked. The paté & prawns pil pil were delicious and the service was warm & friendly. My 89 year old mother thoroughly enjoyed herself
