I usually do not write reviews. I visit a lot of good restaurants but I have to say. The experience I had today was quiet disappointing from a Michelin restaurant.

I have booked this reservation for 6 people today celebrating my girlfriends birthday. Everything went well until the wine server spilled champagne all over the table and onto the birthday person. Server did apologize and did nothing to fix it that much. It was quiet a lot of champagne he spilled as well but did not replace the glass or the bottle.

Later they bring in the desert menu out when they know we have bought a cake from another place and have asked them to make it a surprise when the desert time comes.

The server asked "we have a cake back there but would you like to see the desert menu?" And has ruined the surprise.

They still asked us to pay the plating fee and we can definitely hear them laughing by the bar (we were sitting right by the bar)

I hope the manager sees this.
I do not know what I have experience; if it was a form of racism or other discrimination when they purposely spoil the surprise and laugh right at our faces

I will not recommend this place to anyone as long as they decide to change the way they serve. As good service reflects the food as well.

Music at an unacceptable level. The food was not the same. Is there a new management there?

The problem with the noise level is not the people. It is the overly loud and just wrong music for a restaurant of this caliber. Otherwise we love the place.

Black spaghetti was excellent! Sea Scallops dish was amazing - scallops were seared perfectly. Lamb shank was extremely tender and moist. Warm apple sottosopra dessert was delicious. Paired with a Bastianich red wine (approx. $45). Wonderful meal.

Fabulous from start to finish. Didn’t have that tacky Mother’s Day feeling at all. The great ambience, innovative dishes and impressive wine list paired with Joe’s knowledge and accommodations helped make our anniversary dinner spectacular!

We waited 25 minutes despite having a reservation. The irony is that they called and reminded us that if we are late we would lose the table. The service was poor with us having to wait long before someone took our order. Although the food is great, this isn’t a place I would frequent since good/great food is available in plenty in NYC.

This dinner was planned weeks in advance, given the difficulty in getting reservations at this very popular up-scale dining option. A rather modest (in size) store front opens up to a large, bustling restaurant with both downstairs and upstairs tables. Servers seemed to be ubiquitous, running back and forth, but that didn't seem to generate much attention to us once seated. Once things were underway (drinks/wine, salad, entrees, dessert) things proceeded in a timely fashion. Our server was efficient, but lacked personality with a somewhat uninterested demeanor. Entrees were mid-30s in price and very good (swordfish and black spaghetti with crab meat); appetizers, sides, dessert were relatively more expensive as were cocktails and glasses of wine such that for two, we easily approached $200. The menu options are very good, and in many cases unique. This was a very good experience; having done it once, we would return with the benefit of this trial run--overall, a memorable experience--o assist us.

Lovely atmosphere, restaurant on 2 levels and we opted to eat
Upstairs which was quieter. Large selection and generous
Portions. Four of us loved our dinners and drinks. Service
was perfect and we celebrated our friends 80th birthday. We
all could hear perfectly/- not too loud in restaurant.
Delicious pork chops, pigs feet and huge portion of
lamb chops. The menu also has many pasta dishes that
are excellent.

It was a pleasant enough place to spend an evening but very expensive for what it was. We knew it was an expensive restaurant and are happy to say those kind of prices for an excellent meal but this was no more than average. We have eaten as well at less expensive restaurants and much better at similarly priced ones. The wild boar ragu was particularly disappointing as it tasted like a very ordinary stew.

The service in this place is incredible, very attentive and friendly. Wine lovely will love the choice of wine was huge, like a naughty bible. Started with the goats cheese tortellini and was incredible and was very excited by the rest of the meal because it was really amazing. But after that amazing start the beef cheek tortellini and pappardelle Bolognese were very underwhelming, just a bit flat, felt the pappardelle was slightly undercooked for my liking. The octopus was nice and to my amazement even had my partner eating it who tends to steer clear of any “monsters from the ocean”. The mascaponi cheese cake was lovely but the saffron panacota needed some texture like a salted caramel tweel or something as the only texture coming from the dish was the unpleasant dried apricot. Feel some more thought needs to go into the dishes to elevate them to the next level.

Selected some specials, swordfish crudo, artichokes along with several more pasta dishes to share. Rabbit Ravi dish was one of the best I have ever had though we did find a bone in the dish. Beef cheek dish was also outstanding. Disappointed in the lobster dish, very tough. Bucatini was ok, I have had better. Deserts were great and service was excellent. Overall a very good experience but certainly did not do everything as well as I expected.

The service was a bit slow, we waited more than usual. The restaurant is very dark which disappointed me because we went to have lunch. So the ambiance of darkness in the day is not very pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant just for dinner or at night because of the light and also the menu looks much better for dinner.

Excellent service, festive atmosphere (not quiet but not deafening. Unfortunately, the food was only ok. Even the pastas, a former stand-out here, were only fair. Pork, branzino, and squab ok. Mostly, the food lacked flavor and interest. Cocktails were very good, Bastianich red wine at $45 a bottle also very good.
